Film Noir – Audience
Fans of art usually like film noir Artistic cinematography and
stylishness of the acting Usually 1946-1957 (popular years) Target gender is males. Distinguished by planning, making and
history of a film noire Example would be introducing an
attractive femme fatal- generally play undercover role/fall in love with the star actor/seduce star actor for own purposes.
Mostly 18 films
Usually contain: (appeals to most audiences, mainly male) Sexual references Violence (cross fire, guns, fighting etc.) Drugs Implied nudity Minimal gore (blood from gunshot wounds etc.)
Most film noir’s include a lot of conventions that the BBFC would class the film as either a 15 or and 18. These films are mainly permitted for only their age range. The gatekeeping of the films, however, are not very effective as the conventions included generally interest not only the male gender but the female gender and most age ranges, depending on the stars included in the film.
