mainstream films from all genres. Each week is different as different genres have specials in it. It contains popular releases. It contains all kinds of films so probably the age range would be 16 or 18 plus.

The layout of the magazine contains all the conventions. The mast head and main image are the focus points and then the feature article. Depending on how big the story is depends on how many other stories are being promoted on the front.

Because empire magazine is such a known magazine it doesn’t matter if the pictures covers the masthead as its still recognizable.

The image is too attract a male audience which is good because the target market of transformers is man. Due to the lack of clothes and her desirable look and her hands covering her upper body. The tattoo a mysterious feature to the image as its not well known.

The three sizzling exclusive is another gripping point for the readers

Her name is a big emphases to the front cover as empire know she's a well known woman so are suing that to sell the magazine.

This is an example of actors not having to be in character on the front cover.

It is targeted at film fans who respect well reviewed films, similar to Empire’s audience.

It typically contains features, interviews and previews.

The main character takes the front cover, overlapping the well-known headline.

This magazine follows all main conventions of magazines.

This magazine is very film orientated with the lexis used such as film names, previews, DVDs, film etc.

The large image shows this character is the main focus and will attract audiences by the direct stare. The crazy outfit and background reflects the film so will engage audiences

The selling point of this magazine is of what’s inside –ultimate summer preview. This is what the audience will want to find out and be intrigued about.

This magazine differs from the other one as its jam packed with color and text to sell the busy filled magazine.

Lots of different films are being spoke about on the front cover so it will appeal to all audiences.

Summary These seem to be the two main well

known magazines for specifically the film genre.

Other magazines that cover all entertainment including music include; uncut, little white lies, SFX, premiere, sight and sound, entertainment magazine.

Because my magazine is going to be specifically for film I decided just to research the two main ones that would be my competition in the industry.

Summary I have realized that film magazines

conventionally have the image of the character in their costume, but some can have the actor as themselves. I think I might work on this to make my film magazine stand out.

All film magazines contain main images of people who are main characters in the film.
