Ward Park is spread over 37 acres and contains a range of activities. Take
a walk alongside the small lakes for a chance to see the visiting ducks and
geese or take a peak in the dry pens to see more exotic birds. If you are
feeling more active, why not visit the tennis courts, putting green, cricket
and rugby pitches or the adventure playground?

The Pickie Pool Swans are one of Bangor’s best loved attractions. Go for a
paddle around the lagoon on these giant swans before taking a trip on the
Pickie Puffer — the park’s very own narrow gauge railway. If there’s time,
call into the Windjammer café for a wee treat before visiting the adventure
playground.

Road for approximately 1.5 miles

The mile–long Ballyholme beach continues to be a popular bathing spot for
young and old. On a warm summer’s day, why not take the plunge and cool
down with a paddle or a swim? Or get active with some beach sports such
as volleyball or rounders. It’s also a great spot for a relaxing picnic. On a
cold day, go for a bracing walk and blow the cobwebs away or if you’re really
brave put on a wetsuit and try some body boarding!

Bangor marina is Northern Ireland’s biggest marina. If you fancy a life on
the ocean wave then this is the place for you. You can hire a boat and go for
short sea cruise or try and land the catch of the day with a spot of fishing. If
you feel like staying on dry land you can visit the fun fair which is open dur-
ing the summer months.

Kingsland Play and Picnic Area, overlooking Ballyholme Bay, has a great
range of activities for all ages. Try and score a hole in one at the Pitch and
Putt. Anyone for tennis? You can try and improve your hand with a couple
of games. There’s also an adventure playground to explore. But make sure
you find time to take a break and enjoy a picnic with a great view out to sea.
