Readers Workshop This month, students are reading fantasy stories. Students will use close reading strategies in order to make predictions, inferences, and synthesize. They will work with their peers in order to read for clues and learn life lessons from books. Writers Workshop During the month of June, students will use all of the strategies they have learned throughout the year in order to write fictional fantasy stories. In particular, students will develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. Students will: Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters Organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally Use dialogue and description to develop experiences or events or show the re- sponses of characters to situations Use a variety of transitional words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events Math This month, students are learning post fifth grade standards in order to prepare for sixth grade.     Writers Workshop

    During the month of June, students will use all of the strategies they have learned throughout the year in order to write fictional fantasy stories.
