Leadership Development – Using an intensive, hands-on leadership development model, we train ordinary people to lead their communities and help them act to make truly extraordinary differences.

Community Organizing – Working with these leaders we build relationships, facilitate community meetings and help organize local actions to bring positive change at the local, state and national levels.

Advocacy – We facilitate and advocate for public policies that respect the dignity of all people. Currently we are engaged throughout the County in Comprehensive and Humane Immigration Reform, a bill supporting Domestic Workers’ rights and the DREAM Act, as well as various local justice/civil rights issues.

Civic Participation – We partner with other organiza-tions to help people in the areas of Naturalization and Civic Education. We also work to register voters through-out many of San Diego’s immigrant communities.

Health and Transportation Equity – We are an active member of local, state and national coalitions trying to advance health access and transportation equity.

Fiesta del Sol San Diego – We organize the largest Latino family festival in the County, drawing over 75,000 San Di-egans, and involving hundreds of young people and com-munity members. This vibrant event promotes culture, opportunity, justice…and fun.

Justice Overcoming Boundaries in San Diego County was established in 2003 when a group of clergy and grassroots community leaders came together to envision a regional, faith-base organization focused on adressing disparties throughout the county and beyond. Committed to engaging diverse communities and building bridges across race, class, and region’s diverse geography, the leadership of JOB held its first inaugural event – Rolling Thunder – with a public meet-ing in October 2004 of approximately 2,000 participants. As a result of this meeting, JOB identified the issues campaigns it now currently works to address. We are nationally recognized for leading the organization of the historic 2006 March for Dignity, Respect, and Hope, which drew over 100,000 people to rally in the streets of San Diego in support of comprehen-sive immigration reform.

JOB’s membership consists of 14 faith institutions repre-senting 13,000 families, to community- based social service and advocacy organizations with a constituency of 21,000 families, and two local university and college departments with 3,000 students. The membership and constituency of these organizations reflect and represent San Diego’s diverse communities and are at the core of our leadership, recruit-ment, education, organization, and mobilizing activities.
