M.M. s.r.l. was established in 1977 and was the first European producer of FRP gratings (Fiberglass Reinforced Polymers). M.M. has been growing steadily over the years, both in size (at the moment the company is operating in two plants on an area of 13,000 m²), as well as in its production range.
Today M.M. offers gratings, profiles and structures in FRP (parapets, gangways, ladders, fences, gates) and a wide range of accessories.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE
M.M.?
The FRP or GRP is commonly known as Fiberglass Reinforced Polymers. It is a material consisting of a matrix of thermosetting polyester resins reinforced in continuous glass fibers. These two components lend different properties to the material: the glass fibers give high mechanical resistance and represent the structural part, while the polyester resins tie together the glass fibers enabling stress distribution and high corrosion resistance. These properties allow their use in numerous applications.
M.M.’s gratings are manufactured according to our own unique RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) technology, based on the polymerization of the gratings in sealed molds, which guarantees a more homogeneous resin fitting and a minimal environmental impact.
The handicraft works have been replaced by specially designed advanced robotic systems.

RESISTANCE TO CHEMICAL AGENTSThe resins used preserve the products’ characteristics - even if in permanent contact with most chemical compounds.
RESISTANCE TO TEMPERATURE LEAPS AND HUMIDITYNo residual defects have appeared after several exposure cycles of heat, cold and humidity.
UV RESISTANCENo residual defects have appeared following the accelerated ageing test carried out with UV lamps.
SEAWATER RESISTANCEThe isophtalic resins that we use suffer no variation of their chemical and mechanical properties after 10 years immersed in seawater at a temperature of 50°C.
RESISTANCE TO LOW TEMPERATURESThe resins employed by M.M. can resist temperatures as low as -30°C.
NO SOFTENING TO MEDIUM/HIGH TEMPERATURESThe resins are thermosetting and therefore do not soften if exposed to medium-high temperatures.

The tests were carried out by immersing the samples in the
specified substances for the given time. The pictures clearly show that there were no significant
modifications to the FRP grating.

M.M. FRP gratings are designed with a high safety factor and are manufactured according to the DIN 24537-3 standard.
Our gratings are manufactured in a wide range of sizes in order to guarantee an immediate solution to various design problems and are produced in monolithic panels that are easy and fast to install.
They can be supplied with an anti-skid certified surface according to the DIN 51130 standard. On request, they can be supplied in the self-extinguishing variation.
Further to the classic gratings, M.M. can supply products with specific technical characteristics for their use in particular locations that require distinctive features (particularly aggressive environments, potentially explosive areas, shipbuilding, outdoors and marinas).
FRP GRATINGS
M.M. gratings can also be supplied in conductive or non-static dissipative versions to avoid developing electro-static charges.
Micromesh, “high heel proof” gratings, are available for pedestrian areas and raised floors; square mesh gratings are specific for heavy load floors and are easy to install; rectangular mesh gratings are ideal for fences; covered gratings are distinguished by their lightweight and the high mechanical properties.
Our high chemical resistance gratings, manufactured with isophtalic or vinylester resins, additive free, are appropriate for use in chemically aggressive environments. The structural shape is designed in order to achieve a greater glass fiber covering.
M.M. Compodeck is the only composite grating classified L1 according to U.S. Coast Guard regulations. It’s an innovative product that adds fire resistance to the composite’s usual properties – a characteristic that other composites can’t boast. This particular grating has been designed for the shipbuilding sector and complies with the high technical and safety standards required by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Thanks to the Q-paint finishing, the Marinadeck is an original and innovative grating suitable for foot traffic, including bare feet (anti-skid according to DIN 51097). It’s recommended for outdoor areas, marinas and seafront.

M.M. offers parapets that are designed and built according to the EN ISO 14122 standard and guarantee maximum safety.
We supply CE labelled ladders according to the EN 14396 standard that are designed and built for inspection manholes.
We offer fences supplied in prefabricated modules that are easy to install either outdoors or indoors, in plants and substations in order to avoid contact with under-tension equipment.
Our ladders are built according to the EN ISO 14122-4 standard and are tested according to the EN 131 standard. They are manufactured with FRP profiles and rungs fixed together with FRP pins. The safety cage is completely made with FRP profiles and assembled with S.S. screws. The ladder fasteners are made with FRP or S.S. brackets.
The gates are prefabricated in our works and could be supplied in two variations: double wing vehicle entrance with manual locking – with CE labelling according to the UE 305/2011 Regulation for the sale of construction products that have been tested according to the UNI EN 13241-1 standard; pedestrian single or double wing gates with manual locking.

The M.M. pultruded profiles are available in isophtalic resin or others on demand. They combine a high chemical resistance and a remarkable mechanical resistance in addition to outstanding workability.
The profiles are also available in the self-extinguishing version or in class E23. The features are certified according to the EN 13706 standard for their use where high mechanical performance is required.
They are available in various shapes for the construction of structures, parapets, ladders, stairways or as frames for the installation of coverings.
The standard colors are yellow and grey but other colors can be made on demand.

We build ladders, gangways and platforms with pultruded profiles, gratings and S.S. accessories according to the EN ISO 14122 standard.
They can be supplied in different dimensions according to the customers’ needs; they are also supplied pre-assembled with complete parapet.

The access to machinery or to a part of a plant may require a specific solution: our structures are the answer.
M.M.’s technical department takes over the management of the customer’s enquiries with on-site inspections and works out the best solution respecting the safety standards and the clients’ needs.
A 3D modelling system, advanced calculation softwares are used for the structural dimensioning according to the Italian and International standards in force.
The construction drawings and the installation instructions complete the customer service, ensuring that M.M.’s structures are installed correctly and last for years.
LIGHTNESS: their light weight reduces the load on the weight-bearing structures and are easy to handle in construction yards. This reduces installation time and costs.
NO MAINTENANCE: the servicing costs will be considerably reduced.
SAFETY: our gratings guarantee an anti-skid floor according to the DIN 51130 standard.
DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES: grounding is not necessary.
ADVANTAGEOUS: in extremely harsh environments, they could replace S.S. with substantial money savings.

M.M. has the same attention to its products and to its related accessories. We offer fixing and connecting fittings, fixed and adjustable supports for gratings as well as a wide range of accessories that simplify the installation and improve the FRP structures’ safety. We also offer a large selection of frames and angle profiles. They are light and easy to cut so they turn out to be simple and fast to install.Steps, step coverings and laminate plates are also available.
The FRP laminate plates can be supplied with a quartz anti-skid certified surface according to the DIN 51130 standard. They can be cut and shaped as needed. Grey is the standard color but they could be produced in other colors. They are mainly used as cover boards and walkway coverings.
For the total safety against corrosion, we supply FRP bolts and nuts. These rods could be used as insulating and non-magnetic tie bars. Grounding is not required. They guarantee a remarkable tightening and a high cutting resistance just like a high axial stress.
S.S. AISI 316 fixing and connection fittings are available as well as fixed and adjustable FRP supports for raised floors.
We supply step coverings with front plate for steel or concrete stairways. It’s a fast and simple way to make them secure.
M.M. can supply custom cut gratings for basic anti-skid steps and steps with front plate which guarantee maximum safety for workers.
