THE NEW FFSI WEBSITE IS NOW FULLY FUNCTIONAL WITH INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS TO ASSIST MEMBERS

The new and enhanced FFSI website is now fully functional where members will find very useful interface with the FFSI global network. The Home Page alone provides links to many public pages that may be readily explored even without logging in. The FFSI Global Map is regionalized with red dots that pop out a list of members (that may be clicked to provide member information) when moused over.

The biggest improvements in the site, apart from its more aesthetic appearance and professional layout, are the on-line reporting sys-tems, conference & meeting registration system, company information update system, email center, and marketing & company presentations page. The on-line reporting system now covers the Accounts Receiv-ables, Performance Appraisal, Surveys and Top Gun Program. All of the useful functionalities from the old site have been enhanced and

migrated to the new site. After September 7, 2008, the old website shall be shut down and any browser who tries to access the old site will be redirected to the new site automatically.

Below are some screen shots from the site which contains nearly 1,000 pages of information, downloadable files, photos, forms, reports, links, and dozens of database files. Consequently, apart from the Public Pages, all other “for members only” information are fully secured with each authorised user either having his own or a company group log-in credential. You are invited!

On behalf of the Board of Directors of FFSI it is my pleasure to invite all members to attend our 8th FFSI Sales and Marketing Meeting to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 13th to 15th No-vember 2008, co-hosted by Ha Thien Galaxy Express and CJ GLS (VN) Co. Ltd. On-line registra-tion is now available via the FFSI website (www.ffsintl.net) where you will also find all relevant in-formation. Remember that there is no attendance fee for FFSI members to attend these Meetings as these costs are all covered by FFSI – so it is a great opportunity to bring any number of your staff to partici-pate in this valuable gathering where we focus on increasing our business activities with one an-other. Last year we experienced a wonderful time in Qingdao and had the largest ever attendance of 111 participants…can we top that number this year when we also recognise FFSI’s very first TOP GUN?? The closing date for registration is 20th September 2008, but there is no time like the present to immediately complete your on-line registration today and to make the hard work of Ada, Joy, Mike and Polly that much more rewarding for all their background assistance!! I sincerely look forward to welcoming you all to Vietnam in November to renew old friendships, make many more, sign plenty of MOA’s and build on our successes of the past.

Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, the New World Hotel Saigon ensures your visit is as memorable as it is comfortable. Experience the best in personalized service and 5 - star facilities mixed with the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality. Only 20 minutes from the airport and with the business and commercial district at its doorstep, there is no better located hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Venture further afield and discover the beauty of the Mekong Delta, tropical beaches and the refreshing coolness of the highlands. From its opening in October, 1994, the New World Hotel Saigon has been the center of important events in the city, hosting a number of visiting dignitaries. Through the years, the Hotel has established itself as a leader in Vietnam 's hospitality industry and has accommodated many international personalities and head of states. ————————————————–———————–——— U. S. A. P. O. BOX INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT FORWARDING ————————————————–———————–——— P. O. BOX PROVIDES NEW FACILITIES TO FFSI MEMBERS

You will find our new logistics infrastructure that we can provide to our FFSI members now. We went from 6,000 sq. ft. to 136,000 sq. ft. with 30 doors for receiving cargo: transshipments, bonded warehouse, in-house custom brokers, car loading area, heavy equipment handling and so on. I hope our members value this new platform for business because here everything now is possible. This is not a project, this is a reality. The problem that I still can see at FFSI is that there is nobody in South America and a poor presence in the Latin world. I think the network platform should be extended to those countries, when that happens we will have a strong global presence and everyone will win. To achieve that goal, we need to create an incentive for new members in those countries. The world of commerce is changing so fast, now we are going from local areas to global markets and I believe Asia needs to be integrated with the Latin world. If you have other business to talk, I am very open and motivated be-cause now we have a very solid infrastructure. Fernando Gonzalez President [email protected]

M&M CS, Prague, has expanded its container business considerably since last fall: Since November, the Czech M&M company has been handling the transportation of a big volume of cargo, mainly in 40’ high cube containers, from China to Prague. The initial stage of this furniture logistics business being over, the business now means high volume cargoes for M&M in 2008 and the coming years. The containers go by sea from China to Hamburg and then by rail to the Czech Republic. As a rule, this on-carriage is done via the Metrans block train service from Hamburg to Prague ‘s Metrans Terminal. Metrans has been an established carrier on this route for years. M&M reliably organizes this multimodal transport and arranges cus-toms clearance at the destination plus the distribution of the cargo as requested by the customer. Yet there is more to M&M’s service in this case. For this business, M&M collaborates with different M&M companies along the transit route. M&M Tianbao International Freight Forwarding Co. Ltd., the Chinese M&M company, and its branches organize the pre-carriage of the goods from approx. 50 different suppliers to the Chinese East coast ports, book the containers on Europe-bound vessels, and issue the ap-propriate dispatch advice. The sea department of the German M&M air sea cargo GmbH, based in Hamburg, controls the smooth transship-ment of the containers and guarantees the information flow concerning transshipment and on-carriage. In this case, and also, or rather, especially, in cases where we deal with intermodal shipments between Europe and the Far east, Central Asia, or the Gulf region, the tightly knit network of M&M companies and their branch offices guarantees smooth coordination and high quality service, as numerous shipments in this sector have shown. As Jiri Kudrna, responsible for the development of this market segment in M&M Prague’s management, predicts: “Recently, the foreign trade volume has grown immensely between China and Central and Eastern Europe; therefore, container and intermodal sea-land transports will play an increasingly important role in our business here in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia.”

The company is experienced not only in the import, but also the export of containerized goods: Every year, the Czech M&M transports numer-ous 40’ containers containing sanitary equipment, swimming pool equipment, and other hotel equipment to the Caribbean.

Room of MD Nil Tunasar

Meeting Room

Transorient International Forwarding Ltd. established in 1961 was awarded Best Office Design for 2007 by the Chamber of Interior Architects. The complex of the new office complimented by its mag-nificent twin towers boosts an environment very suitable to filming. Attracting the attention of many producers who were directed imme-diately into Transorient’s modern office by the architects of the com-plex when producers searched for an office to shoot their scenes. Designed and decorated by owners Nil Tunasar and Can Pakyurek, Transorient’s new office attracted the attention of many professional interior designers & producers and in 2007 was credited with the best office design award, just 2 years after moving to its own new office building. Although being just 2 years, new Transorient’s office has already hosted several advertisements and TV series during 2008 which besides forwarding puts Transorient in the centre of attention in other sectors as well.

INTRA Co. has been appointed as the GSA for Air France/KLM Cargo in Cambodia starting from 1 September 2008. This is in recognition of the quality services and reliability of INTRA Co. as a leading inde-pendent freight forwarder in this country.

Air France/KLM is off-line in Cambodia but has service agreements with Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways for the sector Phnom Penh / Bangkok. These two airlines have twice daily flights between the two cities. Cargo can be moved swiftly and connect to AF/KLM cargo freighter in Bangkok to international destinations.

INTRA Co has been a proud member of the FFSI family for many years. Cambodia is a small country (population 15 million) and has only recently started to embark on the road to industrialization.

Infrastructure is still in very poor condition as a result of two decades of war and international isolation. Currently the main industry in the country is garment production. And in the near future also shoe pro-duction will expand as a result of new investments.

Other industries, whether for export or for domestic consumption, are still largely absent. More than 80% of general consumer products, construction materials, tools and machinery, and luxury items have to be imported from all over the world.

In the past 3 years there has however been a very significant devel-opment: the emergence of Cambodia as a major rice exporter. This trend of increased production and export to international markets is expected to continue and will certainly lead to higher living standards among the rural population. This is expected to boost economic devel-opment which will spur the establishment of new industries. The in-creased price of rice on the world market has made rice the “white gold” for Cambodia.

INTRA Co. services include all aspects of multi-modal transport. A spe-cial service that deserves to be mentioned is the over-land transport from Thailand to Cambodia.

Cargo from international origins will be transited in Thailand as custom bonded goods and transported by truck or by boat to any destination in Cambodia. This service is the most suitable solution for bulky items as there is currently no air cargo freighter service into Cambodia.
