This is only going to irritate your potential employers and waste some valuable space in your resume, that could be used to mention something important. Bona fide resumes are written in a manner specifying information required for some rare professions. Others need not use these resumes as it is only going to act against your chances of selection. 3. Few Things You Should Never Put on Your Resume

In our endeavor to write an inch perfect resume, we keep no stone unturned to know everything about the things we need to add in our resume. However, we know little about those things, that need to be avoided. The do's and don'ts of resume writing are two sides of the same coin; you need to know both, in order to prepare an impressive profile document. As there is much hue and cry about things that make an accurate resume , here are some blunders that need to be avoided while writing the same.

1. Insignificant Job experience : Hiding information pertaining to your career is an offense known to all. However, that does not amplify the need to mention your experience as restaurant waitress during high school (of course if you are not planning for similar jobs) in your resume; while applying for a position of office assistant or anything in that case. This is only going to irritate your potential employers and waste some valuable space in your resume, that could be used to mention something important. Mention only relevant job experiences that can convince employers to take decisions in your favor.

2. Photographs and physical characteristics : Many job applicants are in the habit of providing photographs and some even go to the extent of providing information regarding physical attributes, that are not at all necessary. There are professions, such as; modeling, acting or security guards that require these information; however the employers specifically mention their need of bona fide resumes in such cases. Bona fide resumes are written in a manner specifying information required for some rare professions. Others need not use these resumes as it is only going to act against your chances of selection.

3. Typos and formating errors : Well, it is needless to mention the injury caused by a single typo or poor resume format, to your journey towards a dream job. Resumes need to be simple and free from grammatical errors. Various formating and proof reading softwares are available. Make use of those to get rid of all errors before you present your resume to any recruiter.

4. Stereotype Objective : To write or not to write career objective? A question most job seekers spend a hard time to answer. To say that career objectives are not required in resumes will be wrong. These used to be an integral part of resumes earlier. However, the overused phrases in career objectives made this section less or unimportant presently. This is what we need to avoid. Career objectives are very important from the employers perspective and therefore need to be simple, employer centric and meaningful. Use of bombastic words and phrases, that apparently have no meaning requires to be avoided.

5. Narrative Style : It is a good habit of presenting all required information using bullets in place of subjective summary. It adds to readability and clarity. Recruiters can easily get the required information without going through entire resume . Again using too many abbreviations is also not recommended. Your recruiters may not be aware of all those abbreviations and technical terms you were familiar with in your previous workplace. Always use complete terminologies in place of short forms in resumes.

6. Hobbies and personal information : These are the two sections that find their way very easily to almost all resumes. However, these need to be eliminated. Your recruiters are in no way interested in your family, likes and dislikes. Hobbies, such as gardening , playing guitar etc. have no meaning as far as the job role of IT or banking profession is concerned. Mention only those hobbies that are related to the applied job. You can always skip these sections as they do not make any notable difference in your selection process.

Finally, resumes are unique with respect to the type of job role and applicant. Having said so, it is also important to keep in mind that the above mentioned errors are common to all sorts of resumes and demands to be excluded. No job profile or candidate can be an exception to these rules. Hope you can now identify the mistakes you often tend to make, while writing resumes. Just make these small yet vital modifications and then you land your dream job in no time.
