It offers a theological reflecon on the nature of mission (God’s mission, Christ’s mission) and on the tasks of mission today (the mission of the Church). TH140 Thoelogy of Mission

Schedule: Tuesday 9:00-12:00NN

This course introduces the students to the main themes of contemporary theology of mission. It offers a theological reflection on the nature of mission (God’s mission, Christ’s mission) and on the tasks of mission today (the mission of the Church). It involves some biblical foundations for mission, a historical overview of the ways in which the Church has understood and has responded to Christ’s missionary mandate in both the Catholic and Protestant traditions, and significant trends and themes in the ecumenical missionary paradigm and explores new ways of doing mission in Christ’s way.

This course intended to facilitate the exploration of the issues and concerns regarding the self and identity to arrive at better understanding of one’s self. It strives to meet the goal by stressing the integration of the personal with the academic –contextualizing matters discussed in the classroom and in the everyday experiences of students –making the better learning, generating a new appreciation for the learning process and developing a more critical and reflective attitude while enabling them to manage and improve their selves to attain a better quality life.

This course provides an introduction to the Jewish-Graeco-Roman world of the first century CE and to the methods and approaches used in the study of the New Testament. It gives a brief overview of the contents of the books of the New Testament.

This course deals with questions for Christian theology raised by the encounter with other faiths and examines the principles and conditions of inter-religious dialogue. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Universal Savior, while in the context of world religions, Christianity appears as just one of the many ways to salvation.

HS115 The Life and Works of Rizal

The course is a study of Rizal’s life and writings in the total context of the formation of the Filipino nation. This course considers the historical movements forming the background of Rizal’s works and the relevance of his principles and ideas to the modern Philippine situation. The course seeks to impart to the students the values, and love of one’s native land and, therefore, includes a conversation with relevant historical figures of other Asian nations.

PE102 Asian Folk and Contemporary Dances

The course is designed to allow students to share and appreciate the richness of their traditional heritage through folk dancing, which is also an integral part of the community. A group presentation would be an expected output of this course.

MT101 Mathematics in the Modern World

This course deals with nature of mathematics, appreciation of its practical, intellectual and aesthetic dimensions, and application of mathematical tools in daily life. The course provides tools for understanding and dealing with various aspects of present-day living, such as managing personal finances, making social choices, appreciating geometric designs, understanding codes used in data transmission and security and dividing limited resources fairly.

CA102 Methods in Religious Education

This course provides methods and techniques of teaching Catechetics, preparing catechetical materials, lesson planning, and syllabus making. It includes a workshop for audiovisual catechesis.

This course provides a brief introduction to the life of Paul and his importance to the early Church community. It will study the Pauline letters as “conversations in context.”

EN106 Effective Communication

This course is designed to improve students’ communication skills. It addresses basic verbal and non-verbal communication skills, using technology as a communication tool, effective written and oral communication, and how to prepare an oral presentation.

This course is a study of masterpieces of world literature in translation from the Ancient World up to the contemporary times. The course also includes discussion on the renowned writers from different parts of the world in history. The course mainly discusses Afro-Asian literature.

TH129 Introduction to Women and Religion

This course explores how women and religion affect one another, in the spiritual, theological, moral, cultural, political and economic dimensions. The course discuss the lives of women in the bible and history and how they have been perceived historically and in the contemporary. It studies the experience and role of women in major religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Chinese religions. It also includes discussion on women’s contributions to interreligious dialogues.

HS125 Asian Church History

This course studies the development of the Church in Asia. It also explores the cultural factors that conditioned and influenced the Asian people’s acceptance and understanding of the Christian message.

TH119 Christian Understanding of God

The course concentrates on explaining the unity and integrity of Christian tradition as Trinitarian, while showing the personally and socially transformative dimensions of such belief.

This course provides discussion on the moral challenges of Christian faith. It explains biblical-historical perspectives of Christian morality and Christian ethics. This course deals extensively with moral life as based on fundamental option; understanding of sin and conversion; understanding of common good and justice; and conscience, freedom and authority.

TH141 Marian Theology

Schedule: Thursday 1:30-4:30PM

Professor: Dr. Miguel B. Lambino

From aa historical approach, the course will take a long look at Mary of Nazareth, the first century Jewish young woman, before she was put onto a pedestal and bedecked in the fine clothes and jewelry or earthly queens. Her image will be deconstructed from an unreachable ideal of womanhood and reconstructed into a woman-disciple who is one of us. Mary will be considered in her significance as a young woman of faith, mother to Jesus, disciple, and a member of the community of the faithful. Her meaning and significance will be re-appropriated for contemporary Christians. Biblical narratives, dogmatic declarations, apparitions, devotional prayers, ritual and songs will be examined and evaluated in the course. If possible, educational trips will be scheduled.
