GED Prep in Camp WashingtonInterested in getting your GED? Visit the Camp Washington Neighborhood Center at 2951 Sidney Ave. or follow the Camp Washington Community School on Facebook (@campwashingtoncommunityschool) to learn more about how to sign up.

If you already have your GED, the community school can still be beneficial! Check out what else you can do:

• Look for a job: The community school sends a weekly list of job list of job leads and has a job board in the classroom that includes job applications. You can use their computers or bring your laptop to work on your resume or apply for jobs online!

• Learn to type: Hunt and peck no more! It’s easy to learn how to type on typing.com.

• Use our computers: We have two computers in the classroom that students can use to take practice tests, set up an email account, etc.

• Pick up a free book: Our bookshelf is outside on the sidewalk in good weather. In bad weather, it’s inside. You need not be a student to take a book, either! We have some great titles for both children and adults.

• Take the TABE: Taking the TABE test is the first step in the GED prep course, but is also used by some organizations for assessment. We are happy to fax your scores to your caseworker.

• Learn about programs: One of our students recently earned her casual dining certificate from YWCA’s First Course program, and you can too! Let us know you are interested to get a referral.

Are you a business looking for new employees? Look no further than Camp Washington Community School!

The school is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm. In case of bad weather, we follow the CPS schedule.

If You Need a Stylist, Try New Business“Your Stylist, LLC”

Your Stylist, LLC is a service-based business serving clients (focused on women) as a Personal Stylist/Wardrobe Consultant/Personal Shopper. Jackie Neville helps women redefine their style so they can be the best version of themselves. Neville recently opened up a brick and mortar studio here in Camp Washington where she serves Cincinnati and those in the Tri-State area.

Neville’s new studio is for clients to have private styling sessions to try on and select wardrobe options from the retailers she shops with. Plus, in 2018 she plans on hosting style seminars, social events, open houses and pop-up shops! Also new in 2018, her studio will house co-op students enrolled in UC’s DAAP Fashion Design Program. Plus, she’s building a team by hiring more freelance assistants and non-university interns. It’s the perfect workspace when she isn’t in the field working. Neville is thrilled to be in an up and coming neighborhood like Camp Washington because she’s an up and comer herself. Neville won 2017 “Woman of the Year”

named by Cincy Chic

Metropolitan Sewer Fixing Hole in Pipe on Stock StreetCamp Washington residents may have noticed a new Metropolitan Sewer District project happening on Stock Street. A 96-inch sewer line under the street has developed a hole which must be repaired immediately. This MSD project bypasses the hole so that the line can be repaired from the inside, and was completed early this month without tearing up the street.

Join Us For The Next Trash Social! It might be cold outside, but trash doesn’t hibernate. The next trash social will be taking place on Saturday, February 17th from Noon until 1:00pm and will start at the Neighborhood Center. It will finish up at the farm and there will be some tasty hot chocolate to enjoy while you tour the farm!

The popular concert series continues on in the winter! February features Ricky Nye Inc.

Traditional blues, boogie woogie, and classic New Orleans jazz and R&B all come flying from the fingers of Cincinnati, OH pianist and vocalist Ricky Nye. The driving force behind the annual BLUES & BOOGIE PIANO SUMMIT held in Greater Cincinnati since 1999, Ricky has been inducted into the International Boogie Woogie Hall Of Fame, voted “Blues Artist Of The Year 2013 & 2014” in Cincinnati’s CEA Awards, and “Best Local Musician” by CityBeat Magazine’s “Best Of Cincinnati 2013 & 2014” reader’s poll.

Recently, the Camp Washington Urban Farm (CWUF) has renovated the Paul Rudemiller Neighborhood Center’s basement and is growing microgreens! Microgreens are seeds planted at a high density in a growing flat with the intention of harvesting them before they reach any kind of maturity. What this process gives you is a green from any plant that is small and packed with flavor and nutrition! Microgreens are the perfect urban farm crop because they can be grown year round and also be grown in a multitude of settings. The varieties we are currently doing are micro radishes, pea shoots and sunflower shoots. Currently we are selling the greens wholesale to restaurants and are hoping to be able to retail the greens to the community this year.

Camp Washington Urban Farm is Growing Food Even in the Winter!
