Church Family,

I would like to express my sincere thanks, gratitude and love to this wonderful church family. The prayers, calls and texts we have received the past two weeks have deeply touched Keri and me. To all who brought food over to the house, offered to drive me to rehab or for any other sign of love this church has shared with us, we are so grateful. I am well on the road to recovery and I can’t wait to be back in church and praising God with y’all.

Once again, to the members of this amazing church who helped carry my burdens of recovery, I will always be truly grateful for the love that was shown.

God bless,

Chris

BJ and Amy Shell knew what kind of church they wanted when they moved here this past summer. Amy described it, “Bible-based, sound theology, and a welcoming

community. We knew we had found this when we visited Point Washington!”

The Shells moved here from Hilton Head, South Carolina where they lived for fifteen years. BJ and Amy have two children Owen, 11 and Lucy, 10. The family vacationed here several times and since BJ’s work would allow them to live anywhere in Florida, they chose here! The Shells joined PWUMC last November!

Amy spoke about her first week settling into their new home. “We moved here not knowing anyone. I was quite lonely when we first moved here, but since we have been coming to PWUMC, the women have been very sweet and welcoming. It has been wonderful to make Christian friend-ships again.”

Amy teaches sixth grade girls on Wednesday nights. Her experience teaching dancing helps her relate to the girls. “I love it. I have always enjoyed teaching teens and ‘tweens. I love getting to know the girls. The depth of knowledge that they possess amazes me.

For example, we were talking about getting to heaven being as difficult as putting a camel through the eye of a needle. Women’s MinistriesThe next United Methodist Women’s Meeting is Tuesday February 7th at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary. All ladies of the church are invited!

This weekend, I had the blessing of participating in the 2017 Women’s Retreat- Women in Need of God’s Sustenance (WINGS). I and over 40 other Christian women had the opportunity to relax, release and receive God’s sustenance. As one woman said, “What a wonderful experience. It was a wonderful spiritual event.”Walton County’s own Sylvia Anderson Powell, our guest speaker, spoke on “Consider the Lotus: It Grows Out of Muddy Murky Waters and Blossoms in the Light” and “..but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)Many thanks to Roxanne Thompson, the Retreat Commit-tee Chairwoman, and all the other volunteers who made this event such a blessing. I am very thankful for what we accomplished for God’s glory.

Blessings, Barbara Brooke
