Welcome! We are glad you joined us for worship today and ask that everyone sign the Friendship Register located in the red folder at the end of each pew. Every person is important, so please include all individuals. We hope this makes it easier for members to welcome our guests as we worship together. We pray that you experience Christ’s presence in our midst, and that God’s presence will sustain you in the week ahead. Large print hymnals and assisted listening devices are available. WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY April 18 - May 23, F&E Room 204
Tuesdays, 10:00 - 11:30 A.M. First Corinthians, Living Love When We
Disagree Paul’s letter to the Corinthians is a challenge to believers to strive for unity by standing on what is foundational in our faith while leaving room to respectfully and lovingly disagree. Relationships are messy. Often, we find ourselves divided - even as Christians. How do we handle our differences with humility and grace, always showing the love of Jesus Christ? Writer and speaker Melissa Spoelstra will help us to answer this question.
Registration opens at 11:00 a.m. and the shotgun start takes place at 1:00 p.m. Dinner and awards will follow the tournament.

SPC will again be hosting CARITAS women the week
of October 21-28, 2017. This vital mission is a stepping

been lost to them due to eviction and homelessness, drug
and alcohol abuse, divorce, domestic violence and job loss.
Women are SPC guests for the week while we provide
them with lodging, meals, laundry, showers and hospitality.
In order to provide the best possible atmosphere for our
guests, SPC congregation members are asked to step up in
many roles - 2 or 3 leadership positions, volunteer
coordinators and many day to day roles. Would you like to
make a difference in the lives of these women - and make
an even bigger difference in YOUR life? For further
information, please contact Elizabeth McGuire in the
church office or Lynn Wiard.

ELIJAH HOUSE ACADEMY UPDATE Several years ago Elijah House Academy began renting space at VERITAS School's original location. School custodians have a singular perspective on the realities of student behavior - how they act and what they value when no one is looking. As their new custodian contemplated this change, he was slightly… nervous. Let your mind wander. Yes, the needs of EHA’s families are truly that raw and real. RVA’s underserved children have far too many disadvantages stacked against them. But thanks to you and others who partner with the school, the students think and act differently than the custodian expected. You see, EHA’s families defy their statistics. He was surprised because EHA children treated him with kindness and respect. They cleaned up after themselves. They respected school property. In fact he couldn’t believe how clean and undisturbed they left the sanctuary after Bible class and Chapel. And he shared those observations with the faculty and students at his recent retirement celebration. Yes, throwing away trash, keeping your hands to yourself, and treating others kindly may seem at first glance a small thing, but it is not. It’s indicative of character. The mission at Elijah House is to provide a Christ-centered and accessible choice in education that cultivates the hearts, minds, and bodies of our city's children for God's glory and Richmond's flourishing. Everyone involved with the school is grateful to the SPC Congregation for partnering with them. HOW YOU CAN HELP: On Thursday evening, May 18, Elijah House will hold its 28th Anniversary GALA. This annual fundraising dinner is held on the school grounds at 6627-B Jahnke Road (at Crestwood Presbyterian Church) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Two tables seating a total of 16 people have already been donated for guests from Salisbury Church. Please call SPC Outreach Committee members Donna Broughton (594-0373) or Sandra Bullock (794-1797) to reserve your spot. Come hear our story, meet our students, and see how your support is making a difference!
