Share your bread. My family and the small community where I grew up showed to me how to

give. Giving is something we do without thinking. There is always an opportunity for us to

share anything that we have. And we are happy and fulfilled when we are able to give what we

have.

My Mom is my model. I always catch her giving a plate of her cooking to our neighbor. Even

if she does not have enough, she will give because she believes there is always enough for

everybody.

My Mom was a little pampered when she was young. I saw that from her pictures and heard

that from stories. I was doubtful though because I had not personally seen my Mom that way.

She was very simple but decent.

I realized later that she was never pompous when she became a mother. She learned to priori-

tize her family. Since then she had not bought anything expensive for herself except a couple of dresses that she used for

special occasions.

She is happy and she feels complete when she shares to others what she has.

Doing good work, according to the Gospel, is key to being salt and light of this world. The Gospel does not

specify any kind of good work. I think, it talks about all the good benefits that we can do to others and to oneself. While

it may vary to the personal level since each one has different capabilities, but anything that works for the good and for

the building up of God’s Kingdom is a good work.

The Psalm, for example, talks about doing justice. The world over, each faith tradition or social philosophy talks

about the same justice expressed in different forms; ours for example is expressed as ‘Do not do unto others what you

would not want others to do unto you”. Charity begets charity. Thus the imperative that the Prophet Isaiah issued to his

listeners is one good invitation: share your bread and your light will shine like the dawn and all the good things will

come upon you and God will bless you a hundredfold.

o0o

Sharing what we have is pretty common. We always give to charity, to the church, to anything that deserves a

little help. We share anything we have because we feel good and we fulfill a need.

Now this invitation to be salt and light is absolutely different from any common type of sharing. It is a sharing

that only cares about the other. It is a sharing that fulfills the need and happiness of the other. Nurturing. Building. But

the return is always peace of heart and unexplained joy. That is the peace and joy of God.

This weekend is commitment weekend for the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal. For the up-building of our Archdi-

ocese, Archbishop Sample knocks on the door of our hearts to help him attain the goals of evangelization, marriage and

family life, ministry formation, children and youth formation, catholic education, vocation to priesthood, diaconate and

religious life and the care for our elderly and retired and ailing presbyterate.

As members of one community, I am calling on you and banking on your generous hearts to share your bread to

help the archbishop.

By helping the archbishop in his apostolic work, I am confident that God will give all the rest. God will not for-

get you, too, for He rewards the generous heart.

Aprendió a priorizar a

Please keep all those who are in the military, or are ill or suffering in your prayers.

For those who are ill or homebound: Tom Barnes, Jeanette Duncan, Bob Worthington, Dick K., John H., Ryan Huber,

Gretta Aker, Brian Faligowski and those struggling with cancer and other illnesses or upcoming surgeries

We pray for peace throughout our entire world. We remember our family members and friends who are serving the

military: Michael Pennington, Mike Andre

If you would like to add the name of someone who is serving in the military, please call the office.

especiales.

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Our Lady of Lourdes, France – Feast –Feb 11 “At Lourdes, even Mary has stepped aside to make way for Christ. There is no place in the world where Christ in the Eucharist is more glorified. The procession of the Eucharist by candlelight is the high point of each day. Here the pilgrims are joined in faith, and all the countries of the world are united as the procession winds from the grotto to show that Jesus is the Gift of the Virgin Mary. Now she stands at the side of her Son so that He may console.” (Rev Msgr. John F. Davis) Our Lady of Lourdes, please pray for all who are sick and who are in need of healing of body, mind, and spirit. Please join us for Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration is available in the chapel 24 hours every day. For adoration outside of the 24-hour regular Thursday schedule, call the office for instructions and to enlist. Everyone is welcome. Spend as much or as little time as you can. Thank you for offering our Lord this special hour. Expect God's blessing, and give Him thanks.
