February 28, 2016 THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
Dear Parishioners, Good bye is always hard. It saddens me to advise you that my term is ending this year, June 30, 2016 as pastor of Sacred Heart in Tillamook. It is hard to believe that I have been your pastor since 2004. I am grateful to the friendships and prayers that we have shared together. I am grateful for knowing and seeing families grow; celebrating Mass, altar servers who are now in college or working; seeing the delight of new parents; be part of saying goodbye to a loved one; uniting couples in Holy Matrimony, enjoying lovely din-ners; being nurtured by all the food, fresh vegetables, elk and deer meat, fish, wood, cards, phone calls, letters, etc. I am grateful for all the many learning experiences (my first parish as pastor, which I will never forget), the compassion and love you have for me and each other as been very rewarding and encouraging. Thank you for being patient with me, and I know you will be supportive and understanding of the next pastor here at SHP.
With your help we have accomplished a lot: a new church and gym roof, remodeled bathrooms in the church and gym, and a new chapel for the cemetery. Some of things we have been able to do is to add an addition-al 6:30 pm Friday Mass for our Hispanic community. It is wonderful to see entire family go to daily mass. I would like to thank the volunteer coordinators for all their hard work, as well as the catechists for a well-organized and successful program. Our confirmation/youth group that meets on Sunday has grown to 20, and of which 12 will be confirmed May 10. RCIA welcomes 5 candidates. I am grateful too for the numerous breakfasts, Fair, Sausage Feed and the recently added Crab Feed which not only brings our parish together but is also a great fundraiser for the parish. Thank you to all our volun-teers who help make these events successful. Our Ministry of Care has been growing with the help of parish members who bring communion, the bulletin, time, news and love to the home bound, those who are residents of assisted living facilities and to the Hospi-tal. I have found it very spiritually uplifting to visit with the young men at OYA. The parish bilingual website was updated, as well as the Facebook page which is very useful for those who are “snow” birds in keeping them informed. I am not sure where I will be going yet but know that wherever I am, I will miss you and pray for you. Please keep in touch. Again, thank you for all your support, prayers and love that you have shown me especially during the time when I was on administrative leave, and when I lost by mom. Your support have helped me get through that difficult journey of my life. Your kindness has meant so much to me, you have shown me Jesus. May God continue to bless you in your journey in life. In Christ, Fr. Joseph

Jubilee Year of Mercy Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, You are visible face of the invisible Father, Of the God who manifest his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: Let the church be your visible in the world, Its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers s would also be clothed in weakness In order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: Let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.
