After all, Proverbs 16:27, “Idle hands are the Devil’s workshop; Idle lips are his mouthpiece.” I have moved on to a new career, teaching and I enjoy it immensely, but what do I do with my free time? Where do I fit? I have two boys and I want them to be strong, independent, and religious. They are in Cub Scouts and Catholic school, so I am a leader for them in Cub Scouts. I am a husband and try to be my best with my wife so I love her and spend time growing together with her. Finally, the time I have left I give to my church, because I am religious and try to do my best. Teaching students is how I fit in, Cub Scouts is how I fit in, Family is how I fit in, and Knight of Columbus is how I fit in. Above would be a puzzle of my nuclear family, Myself, My wife, and each of our two boys. I think of the Knights of Columbus as one of my puzzles. Not all the pieces of the puzzle are the same. Some pieces are: Chris Cooper (Deputy Grand Knight), Joe Magera (Financial Secretary), and Greg Kilgore Brother Knight), each piece is equally important. Together all the pieces form a fantastic picture of the fraternity of Council 6629. Council 6629 is a piece of a bigger puzzle of all the Council’s. There is always a downside. Sometime, God takes a Brother home or we inadvertently offend a Brother and they don’t come back. This saddens me and to finish our puzzle we need to do two things. First, realize we are all doing our best. Be pleasant, if you do not want to be here or are unhappy, do not make three others quit, instead step back search for the right peace of mind and come back when you are ready. When there are 250 members, you might need to try your puzzle piece in a couple different locations before you fit in. Don’t give up, you do fit. Second, recruit, if a piece gets lost under the couch or God takes one home we need a replacement for it. Some people say that our membership is “older”, so what, hopefully I will join them one day. The people we recruit will build our council into a young and vibrant organization if we want. By the way, if all the Brothers that comment on our council’s age showed up at the meetings instead of complaining, they would be surprised at the age of our membership. It truly does represent the membership of the church. To summarize, recruit and come to meetings because we all fit into the puzzle somewhere. Where do you fit in? Belonging,

Where do I fit in? This is a question I have asked myself periodically throughout life. Vocation, family, and society are a few places you have to find out who you are. I have always tried to keep busy and have a fulfilling life, whether as a dishwasher after school or a CEO working 80+ hours a week.

Keeping busy and filling my life with what is important to me will keep me on the right path. You can only keep busy for so long if you do not enjoy what you are doing, you must fit in. Club Report

Well it’s been a couple months and a lot has been going on. The first was the completion of the new roof over the double blue doors. It looks good and I would like to thank everyone that help. It was a team effort. The other thing was the stripping and waxing of the hall floor. It was completed just in time for policemen, firemen, and ems social. Thanks a lot for that. Another item was the offers we received for the scout hut lot. The Club officers turned down both offers and pulled the lot off the market. We will relook at doing a new appraisal on both lots in 6 months and go from there. We also still need help on Monday nights for bingo. This is one of the ways you can help support the club. I will also be posting times for rentals. So maybe you can help. Also the Club meets every 3rd Tuesday at 7 pm. So come on out and get involved Your President George Metzinger

Community Report

Well it’s that time of the year for the Patrick J. O’Brien Policemen, Firemen, EMS and Dispatcher Social on Tuesday the 23rd of February at 7pm. I would ask everyone to be there at 630 pm to meet and greet the people we are honoring. We also ask that you bring a large side dish for a big crowd. Brother Knights Paul Urko and Charlie Seigman are cooking the main dishes (2 meats and a side) but need your help on side dishes and also

deserts. If you would like to help setting the hall up we are meeting at 10 am on Tuesday. Come on out and have a good time and honor those who serve, protect and save lives on a daily basis. They deserve it. Hope to see you there Community Director George Metzinger

The 29th Annual Ted Corcoran Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for May 14, 2016, is our Council’s second largest charity drive. The American Heart Association receives all proceeds each year.

We need volunteers to staff this most worthy event. You need not be a golfer to assist us. We train you to be an “honorary duffer” at no charge. Volunteers needed at the golf course. Please contact Stephen Dunlap, Golf Chairman

Columbus Hope Dear Brother Knights,

I, along with Deputy Grand Knight Chris Cooper, had the pleasure of presenting council checks in the amount of $3,013 each to Ms. Natilie Britt of the Coastal Center and Ms. Stella Harper of the Dorchester Disabilities and Special Needs Office on February 9 before our monthly council meeting at the Council Home.

It was truly inspirational to all of us brother Knights who were in attendance that evening because we listened to each who spoke to us and thanked us immensely for the donations and for all we do to help their organizations budget for and do all of the things they do to help the residents of the Coastal Center and the houses and people supported by the Dorchester Disabilities Office.

I presented a council check in the amount of $500 to the board of directors of the Summerville Miracle League at their recent monthly board meeting on February 10. Once again, the people there spoke highly of us and thanked us immensely for the check donation which definitely helps them in their many wonderful activities they host for the children and families who are helped by the Summerville Miracle League.

Keep up the great work, fellow brother knights, and let’s be inspired to do even better in Hope fundraising efforts in the next year. Vivat Jesus, Mike Laurendi, Council Chairman, Columbus Hope

Dear Brothers

As you've probably heard by now, the February issue of Columbia is dedicated to our Order's insurance program, and features a number of great articles.

One - an interview with the Supreme Knight - particularly caught my eye.

In it, he talks about many different aspects of our business, including the special brother Knight to brother Knight relationship that is unique to us and rare in our industry:

I believe that access to a brother Knight field agent is the best benefit of doing business with the Knights of Columbus.

There are many types of insurance companies, including stock companies, mutual companies and fraternal benefit societies. The hallmark of a fraternal benefit society - like ours - is that it is brother-to-brother, member-to-member.

These men are not just salesmen, but men dedicated to our Order and its principles. They are men who care deeply about brother Knights' families and their financial protection. They are men bound by the bonds of brotherhood who are committed to being there when you and your family need them most. That's why we say "insurance by brother Knights, for brother Knights." Our relationship with our policyholders is not simply transactional, it is personal. And it is personal precisely because it is grounded in a Christian understanding of brotherhood.

You can read the full article HERE. That's why I love what I do. That bond is real and it is

powerful. Let's get together soon - brother to brother - and see how the

Knights of Columbus may be able to help you and your family. Sincerely and Fraternally, Timothy J. Davies, Field Agent Knights of Columbus 843-879-2984 Office 843-879-2984 Fax 843-224-9110 Mobile

Annual

Ted Corcoran Memorial Golf Tournament

Sponsors We never dreamed this annual golf tournament would be such a great success when we first

started this event to benefit the American Heart Association. And a large part of that success is due to our sponsors—men, women, clubs, merchants—for strong support in this endeavor.

Since the very first tournament, we have raised funds to enhance our financial support of the Heart Association. With your partnership, we plan to contribute to the Association’s healthy heart campaigns for the public and continuing education for professionals.

Therefore, we are requesting local merchants for a minimum of $50.00 to sponsor a hole where your business name and address will be plainly displayed. If you wish to donate a prize to be given away at the end of the tournament, then we would be grateful for that.

I know that with you help this event will be as successful as it has been in the past. Thank you in advance for any donation or prizes you may care to offer.
