2nd Sunday of Lent

This Sunday we are challenged by this question: Are we will-ing to make the whole journey through temptation, suffering, death and resurrection as participants with Christ or will we become observers only? Being a disciple of Jesus involves risk. It might mean we have to leave the comfort and security of “home” to go to a new place of God’s choosing. This Sun-day’s readings ask us to realize that the Christian journey is one of risk, suffering and death, but one that ends in glory for those who walk with Christ. Are you willing to take the risk?

Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Belton (254)780-2436 www.cedarbrake.org

[email protected] RCIA: March 3 This day of reflection retreat will lead those journeying through the RCIA process to explore both our need for Christ and the meaning of Christ’s resurrection. The day will include prayer, music, spiritual talks, quiet reflection and fellowship. Beverly Collin, assistant director for Cedarbrake will lead this retreat. Please register through your parish. Cancer Survivors: March 10 The cancer survivors retreat will be a time for survivors to share their stories. Wanda Gibson, a spiritual director and cancer sur-vivor will lead this prayerful day of reflection. Whether you are celebrating one week or twenty years since your cancer experi-ence you are invited to join us in courageous company as we allow our mind, body and spirit to engage, heal, rest and rejoice. A Message From the Bishop I ask all Catholics to join me in participating in a February 26 call-in campaign to Congress on the subject of Dreamer s and the March 5 deadline for a DACA resolution. Thank you for your continuing efforts to support our immigrant brothers and sisters.

Bishop Joe S. Vasquez P.S. All are invited to gather at the diocesan Pastoral Center on February 26 from 7 to 8 p.m. to participate in a Phone Bank for Dreamers. Your advocacy is critical to help nearly 1.8 million Dreamers, young people who were brought into the United States by their parents as children. They may face deportation as soon as March 6, unless Congress reaches a bipartisan deal to protect them. Please see the enclosed flyer if you are not able to go to the Pastoral Center.

Pray-Fast-Give Some suggestions to help prepare our hearts for the glory of Easter: seek the sacrament of reconciliation, pray the rosary daily, attend daily mass, plan time for family meals on most nights of the week, and volunteer your time and talent.
