Lex Gillette, a blind long-jumper from North Carolina, participated in the 2004, 200and 2012 Paralympic Games. Before an event, his guide shows him around the course.During competitions, the guide positions Gillette at the startingline, then goes to the sand pit, where he claps and calls steadilyso the athlete can follow the sounds and run straight ahead. Gilletteknows to jump when he hits his 16th step.

Unable to see where hes going, nor the line from which to jump, nor

where hell land, Gillette entrusts himself fully to his guide. The result?Three consecutive silver medals, and a world record set in 2011.Were all blind to what lies ahead in life, so our guide, the Holy Spirit,

goes before us and beckons usforward in the way we should go.Entrusting ourselves to God, wecan do great things.

What Jesus doesnt say is often as impo tant ahe says. A classic abbinic technique involvesquoting pa t of a ve se and leaving the est uA abbi such as Jesus knew that his followememo ized much Sc iptu e, would ecognizbeginning and supply the end the clinche themselves. Its like when we quip, People in

houses , knowing ou hea e s will menta shouldnt th ow stones.

An example is when child en shout HosannaJesus ente s Je usalem on a donkey. Thei shange the eligious leade s, to whom Jesus sHave you neve ead, F om the lips of chilinfants you have o dained p aise? (MatthewNIV). What he does not say, but what his listesu ely hea in thei minds, is the next line:because of you enemies, to silence the foe anavenge (Psalm 8:2, NIV).

Without utte ing the wo ds, Jesus calls the teleade s enemies of God and p aises the child

    ecognizing his divinity.

    - Based on Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus,by Ann Spangler and Lois Tverberg

God's Perfect Timing After serving as a missionary with her

husband for 20 years, L.B. Cowmancompiled the widely read devotionalStreams in the Desert. Below are two

insights from Cowman about the need forpatience:

God is never an instant too late. He may keep us from the knowledge of what heis going to do; but he always has his

perfect plans successfully made. All weneed to do is to put ourselves wholly in hishands, ask his guidance, follow his leadings and countconfidently upon his blessings.

When I cannot understand my Fathers leading, And it seems to be but hard and cruel fate,Still I hear that gentle whisper ever pleading,God is working, God is faithful, ONLY WAIT.
