Dear Readers,

It’s 2011 and we are just as busy as ever getting geared for our fourth year of greatness. We have HUGE things in store for TREND and I absolutely, cannot wait for you guys to see it. It’s going to be mad darlings, absolutely mad! This year I hope that many of you strive for your dreams, be they on imvu or in life. TREND has inspired me in many ways, especially in regards to getting back to my writing and the perfecting the person I know I can be. So regardless of the obstacles you encounter in 2011, remember that life is an adventure that you make it and only you can make those dreams come true!it and only you can make those dreams come true!

Anyways, we have added some new staff this year, the self proclaimed ‘resi-dent jerk’ Sikk will be gracing us with his presence. He is blunt, honest, and we loved his article on the music copyright situation, so we can’t wait to see what he produces in the future. The Shooting Range (TSR) Magazine has also released their first issue this month! The main ingredients of the magazine are guns, ammo and anything to do with those. Take some time to check it out.

We’ve re-launched Miss IMVU! Back by popular demand I’ve revamped and re-launched the infamous Miss IMVU contest. Check out our website for more information. Applications have to be in by the 20th, don’t miss out! This month we’ve interviewed the gorgeous Corpsedolly, go ahead and take look at her interview. Poised, dark, mysterious, and gorgeous, these are a few words that

come to mind when you think of Corpsedolly. She is the dark starlet

behind such popular creations as the Darya Avatar and Corpsehs Avatar. Yet we wondered, what about the

woman behind the avatar?woman behind the avatar? What does she like to do in her spare time? I had

the opportunity to sit down with Corpsedolly and learn a little more

about what makes her tick!

TREND: What sparked your interest in developing? CD: I tend to get a lot of new creative interests, some I pick up and some I don't. Developing hap-pened to be one I actually followed through. I just started with making things I wanted for myself, yet couldn't quite find.

TREND: When you saw people taking interest, how did you go about developing your brand?CD: Oh I didn't, my catalog is a horrible horrible CD: Oh I didn't, my catalog is a horrible horrible mess. I said I'd never make tan skins but then I did. The first few made it into my main catalog where they really shouldn't be. I have a separate catalog for everything tan and colorful now. I've made a logo for my imvu things but that more because it was fun, and I need the portfolio work for my graphic design.graphic design.

TREND: Ok, so for everyone who doesn't know, what sets Corspedolly and CorpsePuppet apart.CD: CorpseDolly is mostly the things I make for myself and generally darker themed items, if you ignore the few items that made it in there before I started planning things. CorpsePuppet is for my tan skins, hair, customs and it was supposed to be the catalog for colorful clothing, but I haven't made all that many yet.

TREND: How would you describe your style? TREND: How would you describe your style? CD: Well I try to keep it elegant. I like ball gowns, corset outfits, 50's dresses, lingerie, so that's what I'll make. I do love fetish items but I absolutely despise texturing pvc.TREND: PVC seems to be popular now thanks to the little file sales.CD: Oh don't get me started on file sales -.-'CD: Oh don't get me started on file sales -.-'TREND: xD Not a fan eh? lolCD: Please, I'm trying to refrain from bursting into an old lady rant "back in my day we didn't have file sales", or maybe we did, I didn't pay much attention to the forums in 2007.

TREND: Aside from sleeping, what does Corps-edolly like to do?CD: I like baking desserts, because you can deco-rate things like cakes and cupcakes. And brows-ing the internet for pretty pictures, watching a movie, playing on my CDs. I've been meaning to pick up photography again and I like learning new skills, like working with new software, or a new illustration style. Oh, and e-shopping, rofl, can't forget e-shopping. Damn you eBay.

TREND: So which is better Amazon or eBay lol xD?CD: Ebay. Amazon confuses me; I'm never sure if they ship international or not, I've just been sticking to things dispatched by Amazon itself.

TREND: What’s the strangest thing in your own?CD: Oh god that’s more than 50 pages to go through. I guess the fetish horse bundle, with the pony boots, the mask, the latex suit and the tail.

TREND: If you could meet your ‘noob’ self, what would you say to them?CD:CD: You're going to spend quite some time here, so plan PLAN, PLAN, and for the love of god don't hit that random chat button.

TREND: If you were locked in a box, and could only have one item, what would it be? CD:CD: The key? Oh, a laptop with internet connec-tion and a printer. Mmm, printed out food, tastes...paper-ish.

TREND: Any message for your fan base?CD: Thank you for buying my things and leaving me kind reviews or messages. I know I don't always reply to social calls and I'm sorry. Imvu's resources are just not my prefered way to keep in touch. Feel free to add me to facebook or join my imvu group, it's where I'm slightly more chattery.

In 2007, TREND released their first Mr. IMVU contest followed by Miss IMVU and for three years the contest was re-occurring. In the final year of Mr. IMVU, Naughty made the decision to cease the contest for the present and the future. Many did not understand why and were sad to hear that the traditional Miss IMVU would not be following that year. Fast forward a year and it has been announced thatyear and it has been announced that Trend Presents Miss IMVU will be returning. We sat with Naughty to figure out what happened and why the resurgence. She gave us her insight to how things went down and what she hopes will come of the new contest.

Naughty created the idea of developing a Mr. and Miss conjunction contest in 2007 after launching her new e-zine TREND. With the support of her staff, friends, and contributors she did just that. “The idea was to create a play off of Miss America, and see what the creative minds of imvu could come up with.” First came Mr. IMVU, and while it was fun to host, what took place during the contest wasntook place during the contest wasn’t what she expected. “I thought if any drama were to take place, it certainly wouldn’t be in the Mr. IMVU contest, or at least it wouldn’t be as bad. I found out I was very, very wrong.” During the contest some of the men fought with each other, flung accusations, and had ‘pissing matches’. In short, they were far from gentleman you’d expect someone competing for Mexpect someone competing for Mr. IMVU to be. How-ever that was not what killed the contest for her Naughty explains. “I could deal with the drama during

Miss IMVU Re-Vamped

Page 31: February 2011 Trend Magazine

the contest, after all that’s what moderators are for, it was the constant berating of the judges decisions and myself that took place behind the scenes that wore me down. I remem-ber during one contest I broke down into tears.” The contro-versy lied behind three time champ Urteil taking the crown every year. Despite the fact that there were different judges and host for the contest, many still claimed the contest to be unfair. Rather than take the harassment Naughty closed down Trend Presents and stated she would not host a Mr. or Miss imvu again.

Fast forward to 2011 and Trend Studios is buzzing while everyone frantically works. When we asked, Naughty explained that while the Mr. IMVU contest was usually a issue, she never really had that many problems with the Miss IMVU version, and after many messages pleading for the contest to return she finally folded. “I didn’t really want to get back involved with ANY contest, people to not care that you’that you’re talking to a real person and speak any kind of way because they have ‘net fame’. However, I think I’ll give it a try one more time at least for the women’s half, I don’t really know if I want to venture into the Mr. realm any time soon.” When taking a look at what makes the Miss IMVU Contest new we found that a whole new set of judges have been chosen, and that a voting system has been built and put into place to ensure fairness.into place to ensure fairness. We also found that rather that a contest happening once a year, a Miss Month will be selected for every issue, that at the end of the year will com-pete for the overall title of Miss IMVU.

It looks like this year will be an exciting one for the Miss IMVU contest. We hope it continues and cannot wait to see how it turns out.

imvu news

IMVU is finally finishing what they started almost two years ago, and it is caus-ing a commotion. Back in late 2008, they decided to pull the plug on the copyrighted music. They put in place a change that they thought would limit all sounds in products to 20 seconds. Unfortunately, the creators of these products figured out a workaround which enabled them to keep making triggerless song products that worked in the chat client. On January 31st, they announced that a patch had been put in that makes ALL product sounds limited to 20 seconds.

They've never come right out and said that they were doing this for legal reasons. They cite servers and bandwidth as their reason. But the original change coincided with the release of the IMVU Music Store. Regardless of the reasons, many users are quite upset over this.

Aside from the fact that when you sign up for imvu you check a box that says I agree and understand these terms, I almost feel sorry for the typical user. In the new age of "teh interwebz", most either don't understand or care about copyright law. They've seen these products for sale since they joined IMVU, along with Nike shoes and all of the other trademarked and copyrighted products. They thought they were okay to buy. Now they're upset that they lost their music, and not getting a refund. Those of us that know the law, and know the business side of things, realize that refunds on all of these products would cripple our virtual economrefunds on all of these products would cripple our virtual economy. We're talking hun-dreds of millions, if not billions, of credits. This is something that IMVU cannot afford to do.

Many users have decided to boycott and not buy anything. Hopefully, most of them won't leave. Maybe this will serve as a wake-up call to them, a way for them to learn that they are responsible for the choices that they make, and that there are conse-quences to their actions. Maybe some of them will even stop buying the Nike shoes, Yankee hats and Gucci suits. But I'm not holding my breath.

Trying to translate the real world’s beauty into the client is a test in creativity. Many try to do it and many of those who try fail. Very rarely do I encounter a room that can accomplish that task, and keep the simple similarities that make a scene breath taking. Recently, I encountered a room that does just that. The Symphony Grand Hall by Leonessa75 does just that.

If purchasing the bundle, the room comes with a variety of well textured items. The only issue I ran into is the plant given is actually the same brown as the walls, so if you’re looking for greenery you’ll have to add your own. This was easily remedied with an item such as Pool house Plant by Tempti. All in all this room is gorgeous, and among my favorites.
