Dear Friends,

I am happy to announce great youth

news to all of you! Mr. Gilbert Rodriguez has

accepted the position of Youth Minister for our

parish. I have personally known Gilbert for 20

years. He will be a wonderful minister to our

youth. On Thursday February 27, I’m inviting

all youth – age 12 and up to come and welcome

Gilbert to our parish. We will meet at 6 pm in

the School Gym—Judge Street. Parents

encourage your child to attend! Young people

make the extra effort and do your best to come the

day after Ash Wednesday at 6 pm starting in the gym.

The evening will finish no later than 8:30 pm.

Also, Mr. Jason Galindo has accepted the position of

coordinator for open gym nights. Beginning this week, the

gym will be open for soccer and basketball every Monday and

Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm. Please come to the gym this

week – (Monday and Wednesday) to receive more

information about this program. Enter the gym from the

parking lot on Whitney Avenue.

We are blessed to have so many young people in our

parish. I thank all of you – the great parishioners – for your

financial and spiritual support that allows these important

programs to happen.

¡Me alegra anunciarles a todos ustedes una gran noticia

juvenil! El Sr. Gilbert Rodríguez ha aceptado el cargo

de Ministro de Juventud para nuestra parroquia. Conoz-

co personalmente a Gilbert desde hace 20 años. Será un

ministro maravilloso para nuestra juventud. El jueves 27

de febrero, invito a todos los jóvenes, de 12 años de

edad en adelante, a que den la bienvenida a Gilbert a

nuestra parroquia. Nos reuniremos a las 6 pm en el

gimnasio de la escuela: Judge Street. Padres ¡Anime a

su hijo a asistir! Los jóvenes hacen un esfuerzo extra y

hacen todo lo posible para venir el día después del

Miércoles de Ceniza a las 6 pm, comenzando en el gimnasio.

La noche terminará a más tardar a las 8:30 p.m.

Además, el Sr. Jason Galindo ha aceptado el puesto de

coordinador para las noches de gimnasio abierto. A partir de esta

semana, el gimnasio estará abierto para fútbol y baloncesto todos

PRESIDENTS WEEKEND: We celebrate and honor the history of our presidents from George Washington to Donald Trump on Monday, February 17th. It is a federal holiday. On Monday, Feb 17 we will have one mass at 9 am in the chapel. Following the mass the chapel will be closed for the day. Our parish office is closed and all parish activities are cancelled. BIBLE STUDY MONDAYS WITH FR. JOHN REPLOGLE Fr John Replogle will be with us every Monday morning after the 9 am mass for the praying and studying of the scriptures.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11 In observance of the World Day of the Sick, St Bartholomew Parish will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during Mass on Tuesday, February 11 at 9 am in English and 7:30 pm in Spanish. All who are sick, elderly, facing surgery, or seeking the gift of God’s healing are welcome to participate. The whole parish will be invited to join in prayer for those who are sick and for their caregivers. If you know of anyone who may be too ill to attend – please call the rectory and a priest will visit their home.

ROSARY SOCIETY MASS AND MEETING Join us for Mass on Sunday February 2 at 10 am in the church.

BENGALI/BURMESE MASS These two communities gather on the

first Sunday of the month for a bilingual mass at 5 pm in the chapel. Following the mass there is a gathering with light refreshments in Heafey

Hall. The next mass will be celebrated on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 AT 5PM

TAGALOG MASS On the 3rd Sunday of every month Mass is celebrated in Tagalog for the Filipino

community at 5 p.m. In the chapel. The next mass will be celebrated

FEBRUARY 16 AT 5PM

INDONESIAN MASS On the 4th Sunday of every month mass is

celebrated in Indonesian at 3 p.m. in the chapel Following the mass there’s always a reception in Heafey Hall. The next mass will be celebrated

EVERY SUNDAY CHINESE MASS Mass will be celebrated in Chinese every

Sunday at 1:30 pm in the chapel and every Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the chapel.

NEED A LETTER FROM

YOUR CHURCH? In order to give letters of recommendation,

letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may

have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those

documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish

at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not

registered in the parish.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION There are two times every Saturday for

confessions in the main church: 4 pm and 6:30 pm. Also Thursday at 6:30pm in the

Chapel. We now have two priests assigned during these times to make it convenient and

less time to wait. Please do your part…. come as close as possible to these confession times. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity

of God’s mercy and love.

recomendación, de buen carácter moral, como para ser padrinos de algún sacramento

y documentos para propósitos legales o religiosos, se requiere que quienes necesitan

ST. BART’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY CALENDAR RAFFLE Dear Parishioners, As part of a new creative way for our school to raise funds, we will be initiating the new calendar raffle drive for 2020. This gives participants a chance to win a monetary prize! How it works: •Every calendar raffle ticket is $10 each

•Please stop by the school office (red doors on 43 Av) to fill out the bottom portion of the ticket and it is entered in to our raffle giving the purchaser 31 chances to win.

•Every day in the month of March a ticket will be drawn and the person will win the monetary prize that matches the day it was drawn for. We will announce a winner every day in March and on Fridays we will announce the winners for the weekend. We will also list the names of the winners in the parish bulletin each week. Last day to buy a tickets is February 28th! The Year of the Rat was celebrated by our Chinese Catholics last Saturday with a mass in Chinese at 1:30 pm followed by a reception in Heafey Hall. About 300 people attended.

The Chinese community wishes all of our parishioners a prosperous and healthy New Year! AS A REMINDER, MASS IS CELEBRATED IN
