STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee pro-claiming the gospel of God.” MARK 1:14 Do you ever think about how difficult it must have been for Jesus to come into Galilee, knowing that John had just been arrested for teaching the same message that Jesus was proclaiming? It must have taken great love and trust for Jesus to do what the Father had sent Him here on earth to do. In the same way, following a life of stewardship takes great love and trust from us. We must be willing to surrender completely to God, trusting that God will always give us all that we need to fulfill His plan for us.

FROM THE PARISH OFFICE We are in the process of preparing our annual par-ish guide book and directory and would like to have as many correct addresses and phone numbers as possible. If you have moved or changed phone numbers, please call the office at 962-5883.

ANNUAL ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY Tickets go on sale this weekend for the annual party, to be held Saturday, March 10th following the 4:30 p.m. Mass. Tickets for the traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner are $15 each.

REST IN PEACE

In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Charlene Jennings, who died on February 8th and for whom a Funeral Mass was held in church on February 17th. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

BIRTHRIGHT DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE! ARCHDIOCESE

PARISH LIFE

The Desert. Lent has officially begun. Into the de-sert we go. The desert is a place we find ourselves in at various points in life, sometimes intentionally and sometimes not. During Lent, we choose to enter the desert of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. These practices impel us to rely more on God and to trust in His faithful love. We face many chal-lenges in the desert and sometimes feel as if God is not with us, but entering prayerfully into penance and self-denial just as Christ Himself did, we are able to be transformed and to grow in the ways that are most necessary for our spiritual progress. How do we need to repent this season? How can we proclaim the saving message of the Gospel?
