From the Desk of Father José…..

This past week we heard beautiful witness from Ileana Wade about being a principal and a leader in a parish helped by Together in Mission. May the Lord guide us all to be mission-driven and trust in the hope that God always delivers what we need. Our goal this year for Together in Mission is $109,000.00. Please be assured of the gratitude of this parish for your generosity and your commitment to help parishes that are in greater need. As we are reminded today in our Gospel, God is always there in our need and always there to guide us on our journey. May we continue to follow the Word of God and allow it to dwell with us on our journey. One of the moments that

really touched my spirit last week from the presentation was the beautiful song and blessing the children sang. It simply summarizes our need to continue sharing the Good News to all children. Please be assured of my prayers for you as you discern as a family your commitment to helping share the Good News to all, especially the most needy in our Diocese. Let us be at Peace, God will Provide.

Fraternally, Fr.

Archbishop Gomez invites every Catholic

to make their annual commitment to Together in Mission. This year’s theme of “Our Story

is Hope” reminds us that our gifts to Together in Mission are an active demonstration of our faith and love for those in our Archdio-

cese who need our support. Please make a pledge with the information that was mailed to

your home, a pledge card found within the parish, or online at ourmissionla.org/give.

REPORTING ABUSE/MISCONDUCT It is important to communicate your concerns if you observe anyone interacting with a child

in an inappropriate manner. Parents, family members, teachers, clergy and all who work with or are responsible for the care of children need to remember that speaking up is one of the most important

things they can do to protect not just their own children, but all children. Voicing your concerns is critical to protecting God’s children. Any incident of abuse or misconduct should be immediately

reported. For a copy of the complete VIRTUS® article, “Are We Communicating our Concerns?,” please visit http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx.

Are We Communicating our Concerns?” (¿Estamos comunicando nuestras preocupaciones?), visita http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx.

Bible Study with Monsignor Peter Nugent A new Bible Study series for parishioners on the Gospel of St. Luke is now available, which will be read on the

Sundays of this new liturgical year, beginning today. The study essays are written by Msgr. Peter Nugent, and are to be found on the St. Charles parish website. Search more deeply into this beautiful telling of the coming of Christ among

us, his saving message and works. There will be periodic additions to this study material over the next few months.

Volunteering at the Service Center Please think about joining our team of volunteers if you are looking for an opportunity to help with our parish ministries. Volunteers are expected to serve one morning a week (or more if you like).
