Reflection of the Gospel:

Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom

of God is yours. Jesus begins his famous Ser-

mon on the Plain in Luke (a companion to

Matthew’s Sermon on the Mount) by turning

the world on its head. I the kingdom of God

the blessed are those who are marginalized

and oppressed in our societies. And those who

enjoy favor now will not find it in God’s king-

dom. Today Jesus gives us a choice. Do we

glory in the richness of the kingdom of God or

in what our world counts as riches? Do we

stand with the hungry and grieving, or are we

too busy feasting and laughing to notice their

pain?

True happiness can only be fulfilled in God

"Lord Jesus, increase my hunger for you and show me

the way that leads to everlasting happiness and peace.

May I desire you above all else and find perfect joy

in doing your will."

Reflexión del Evangelio:

Bienaventurados los pobres, porque el reino

de Dios es vuestro. Jesús comienza su famoso

Sermón en la llanura en Lucas (un compañero

del Sermón en el Monte de Mateo) dando

vuelta al mundo sobre su cabeza. Yo, el reino

de Dios, los bienaventurados son los margina-

dos y oprimidos en nuestras sociedades. Y

aquellos que disfrutan del favor ahora no lo

encontrarán en el reino de Dios. Hoy Jesús nos

da una opción. ¿Nos gloriamos en la riqueza

del reino de Dios o en lo que nuestro mundo

cuenta como riquezas? ¿Nos quedamos con el

hambre y el dolor, o estamos demasiado ocu-

pados festejando y riendo para notar su dolor?

La verdadera felicidad solo puede ser cumplida en Dios.

"Señor Jesús, aumenta mi hambre por ti y muéstrame el camino

que conduce a la felicidad y la paz eterna. Te deseo por enci-

ma de todo lo demás y encuentro la alegría perfecta al hacer

tu voluntad".

MINISTRY ASSIGNMENT

Pope Francis, in one of his general audiences at

St. Peter’s Square, once stated that being a

Christian is not just obeying orders but means

being in Christ, thinking like him, acting like

him, loving like him; it means letting him take

possession of our life and change it, transform

it, and free it from the darkness of evil and sin.

And we can say that we become blessed if we

are able to be like him. In a way it is living the beatitudes in our

life. The beatitudes both from the gospels of Matthew and Luke

though presented from two perspectives, enjoins us to live the

life of Christ. It is how he lived and ministered to people. We

say that the beatitudes are the magna carta of our Christian life.

It is how the Lord wants us to live us his disciples. People try to

live in accordance to some standards or ideals. If they value

excellence in academics or sports, they study hard or practice a

lot to achieve their goals. We are also called to commit

ourselves to great ideals and to the most important things. We

can say with ease, that as Christians, we are not chosen by the

Lord for little things. We are invited to push onwards toward

the highest principles, staking our lives on noble ideals. And we

accomplish this by living the spirit of the beatitudes. We shall

possess the Kingdom of God if we acknowledge our poverty.

We shall have satisfaction if we hunger and thirst for what is

good and righteous. If we take part in the mission of the church,

no matter how challenging it is, to the point of being cursed and

hated, the Lord will bless us. Rejoice and leap for joy for your

reward will be great in heaven. Let us pray for the grace that

will enable us to be like Christ, as we live the beatitudes.

designed to control who has access to children and ensure that those

who do undergo rigorous screening measures. It’s important for all

adults to understand what this means and how this process works.

Adults who are being screened have not been identified as potential

predators. Rather, all employees and volunteers are screened

carefully because such screenings constitute an important

preventive protective step in establishing a safe environment in the

parish. Screening gives confidence to parents, children, and those

working with them that all are committed to the protection of

El Papa Francisco, en una de sus audiencias

generales en la Plaza de San Pedro, dijo una vez

que ser cristiano no es solo obedecer órdenes

sino que significa estar en Cristo, pensar como

él, actuar como él, amar como él; significa

dejarlo tomar posesión de nuestra vida y

cambiarla, transformarla y liberarla de la

oscuridad del mal y del pecado. Y podemos

decir que somos bendecidos si somos capaces de ser como él.

En cierto modo es vivir las bienaventuranzas en nuestra vida.

Las bienaventuranzas de los evangelios de Mateo y Lucas,

aunque presentadas desde dos perspectivas, nos obligan a vivir

la vida de Cristo. Así es como vivió y ministró a la gente.

Decimos que las bienaventuranzas son la carta magna de

nuestra vida cristiana, Así es como el Señor quiere que nos

vivamos sus discípulos. La gente trata de vivir de acuerdo con

algunas normas o ideales. Si valoran la excelencia académica o

deportiva, estudian mucho o practican mucho para lograr sus

objetivos. También estamos llamados a comprometernos con

grandes ideales y con las cosas más importantes. Podemos decir

con facilidad que, como cristianos, no somos elegidos por el

Señor para cosas pequeñas estamos invitados a seguir

avanzando hacia Los principios más elevados, apostando

nuestras vidas en ideales nobles. Y lo logramos viviendo el

espíritu de las bienaventuranzas. Tendremos el Reino de Dios si

reconocemos nuestra pobreza. Tendremos satisfacción si

tenemos hambre y sed de lo que es bueno y justo. Si

participamos en la misión de la iglesia, no importa cuán

desafiante sea, hasta el punto de ser maldecidos y odiados, el

Señor nos bendecirá. Regocíjate y salta de alegría porque tu

recompensa será grande en el cielo. Oremos por la gracia que

nos permita ser como Cristo, mientras vivimos las

bienaventuranzas.
