Post 9/11 GI Bill Fry Scholarship
• Children of an active duty member of the Armed Forces
who died in the line of duty on or after 11 September 01,
are eligible for this benefit.
• Eligible Children:
– Entitled to 36 months of benefits at the 100% level
– Have15 years to use benefit beginning on 18th birthday
– May be married or over 23 and still be eligible
– May use the benefit until his/her 33rd birthday
– Cannot use benefit before age 18, even if he/she has completed
High School
– Not eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program

9/11 GI Bill-Transferability
• Soldier on Active Duty, or a member of the Selective Reserves at the
time transfer who does not have an adverse action flag
• Requires at least six years of qualified service in the Armed Forces and
agrees to serve at least four additional years from the date of request
• Allows transfer up to 36 months to spouse, eligible dependent child, or
combination
• Must transfer education benefits while serving on active duty, or in
Selective Reserves
• Spouse may use immediately
• Eligible children may use after member completes 10 years of service
• Living Expense Stipend (E-5 BAH w/dependent rate) at school location:
– Available for Soldier or spouse when Soldier NO LONGER on active duty
– Available to the child if Soldier is on active duty or out of service
