April C. Turner Arts Education Specialist*Performing & Literary Artist

APRIL C. TURNER  is a performing and literary artist currently based in the southeastern United States. Turner specializes in African theatre, dance performance and cultural traditions in the diaspora. Her research has taken her to Gambia, Senegal, Brasil, Canada and Mexico. Ms. Turner’s work presenting traditional African stories and dance performances, residencies and workshops have made her a favorite among community centers, schools and cultural organizations nationwide. Ms. Turner also enjoys working as a film/tv actress with featured roles on tv shows Army Wives, Rectify, Evolution and ER; and movies such as Unanswered Prayers and Trinity Goodheart.
