  • This past weekend I went to pick some blueberries. I had a wonderful time and gathered plenty of berries. While gathering these berries I noticed something. Some scripture came back into my mind that I had committed to memory many years ago. John 15:5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him will produce much fruit, because you can do noth-ing without me.

This was Jesus talking with His disciples about them staying connected to Jesus. What I noticed about these berries is how they were doing what they were created to do because they were connected with the source, the Blueberry Bush. How connected are we to the Source of Life, Jesus? Some are closely con-nected and producing much fruit, some are just barely hanging on before falling off, but in either case the source we need comes from staying closely connected to our source of Life, Jesus.

We can do this through our personal study time in Gods Word, through our prayer time, through gathering with Gods people in worship, fellowship, ministry, discipleship, and missions activities. This summer lets stay closely connected and see what the Lord will do in and through us. Blessings, Bro Tommy

We celebrate the 238th birthday of America this month. Our founding fathers based the independence of America on the general principles of Christianity. Even though we have allowed the minority to take God out of our schools, athletic events and other public gatherings, America is still the greatest nation on earth. We still have the freedom to travel anywhere we like, speak our opinions and worship as we choose. As Christians we need to take full advantage of those freedoms. Gods Word tells us that we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves. So, we should take every opportunity to attend church to worship and praise our Creator Father. We should tell others about the love of our Savior and minister to those in need. And one of the greatest responsibilities we have is to pray for our leaders, not just complain.

Choir members, due to vacations and other planned activities, we are not going to have choir practice during the month of July. That being said, plan on starting back to practice in August as we will start looking at new songs and beginning work on our Christmas music.

I look forward to seeing you in church. In Christ, Bro. Chris
