FatigueDef- ‘It is a condition of lowered efficiency

due to the expenditure of energy.’Gulbert ‘ Fatigue is a decreases in capacity to

work and decraese in the pleasure taken in the output.

Characteristics of fatigue-

there is loss of willingness to continue the work.

feeling of tiredness appears. movements of individual becomes irregular,

jerky, yawning, returning, twisting of fingers etc.

Types of fatigue-

1- Sensory Fatigue2- Physical fatigue3- Mental Fatigue

Types of fatigue- 1- Sensory fatigue- this means fatigue of the senses. E.g. a person

staying near the airport are used to the air planes and thus the sense of hearing can get fatigued.

2-Physical Fatigue

it means fatigue of the body. it is caused by the physical activities like walking, jumping, running etc. it is when the organ of the body are unable to carry out the functions efficiently and properly.

3- Mental fatigue-

It means fatigue of the mind. It is caused by mental exertion and strain such as reading, writing, calculating and problem solving.

Causes of fatigue-

Noise- it is directly related to the on set of fatigue. Noise causes distraction and fatigue.

Adverse temperature and humidity – the above and below temperature is most fatiguing.

physical condition- students who are not physically fit cannot concentrate on study.

General working conditions- if the rooms are dark , no proper ventilation, inadequate sitting arrangements it will quickly lead to fatigue.

long hours of study-it can decrease the efficiency of students by causing fatigue.

No provisions of rest- lack of rest makes the work dull, monotonous, heavy and the child may feel fatigue. The output of the work will also suffer qualitatively and quantitively.

Unpleasant emotions- Like anger, anxiety stress may lead to fatigue.

uninteresting lesson- if the lesson are uninteresting ,unpleasant, lengthy then the students begin to bored and fatigued.

Uninteresting methods of teaching can lead to fatigue- e.g. lecture method, no student –teacher interaction

Physical and mental condition of the students-if the eye sight of the students is weak or if he is suffering from the some physical ailment or diseases then he can get fatigued quickly.

If students are not mentally healthy or are suffering from the complexes, conflicts and worries then he may be easily fatigued.

Lack of games- if there is no arrangements for the games or play in school then it can cause fatigue.

Prevention /remedies of fatiguefavorable physical environment-It should be provided i.e.a. Well lighted, ventilated and airy class

rooms.b. Comfortable seating arrangementsc. The school should be situated away from the

noisy surrounding.
