The month of February is here again and winter is almost in the history books. The next time I type my Letter From the Publisher it will be time for Daytona again. This winter wasn’t half as mild as last year, as a matter of fact it was down right cold. There were a few shows around the state this winter and I know most of you headed into the New York City for the Annual Progressive Intenational Motorcycle Show at the Jacob Javits Center. We will have event coverage of that event in the next issue. Now once again, it’s the time of year where I suggest to you don’t wait until the week before Daytona, to make any repairs that your were meaning to change before winter. Your local dealers and bike shops aren’t that busy right now and could really use the work. Some of them are even offering to come and pick up and drop off your bike for you. So don’t wait until the day before you want to go to Bike Week, drop it off now, you’ll be glad you did!

Cheesy Chicken & Broccoli BakeBy: tishdush26, NJ.

1 (6-ounce) package STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Chicken1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces1 (16-ounce) package frozen broccoli florets, thawed, drained1 (10 3/4-ounce) can reduced-sodium condensed cream of chicken soup1/2 pound (8 ounces) VELVEETA Pas-teurized Prepared Cheese Product, cut into 1/2-inch cubesDirections: Heat oven to 400°F. Pre-pare stuffing mix as directed on pack-age; set aside. Combine remaining in-gredients; spoon into greased 13x9-inch baking dish. Top with stuffing. Bake 40 minutes or until chicken is done. Makes 6 servings, about 1 1/3 cups each.

Baked Shrimp1/4 cup butter1 cup Italian dressingJuice of 2 fresh lemonsFreshly ground pepper to taste

3 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails intactDirections: Preheat oven to 325°F. and melt butter in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch bak-ing dish. Remove baking dish and add dressing, lemon juice and pepper; mix-ing well. Add shrimp to sauce, stirring to coat shrimp well. Bake, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring several times, or until shrimp are done. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Swordfish w/ Spicy Almond CrustBy: buggieboo78, NY.

1 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves1/2 cup whole natural almonds, toasted1/4 cup lemon juice2 tablespoons water1 1/2 teaspoons grated orange peel2 cloves large garlic, coarsely chopped1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cumin1/2 teaspoon salt4 (6-ounce) swordfish steaks, 3/4-inch thick1 lemon, slicedDirections: Heat oven to 400°F. Combine all ingredients except fish and lemon slices in bowl of food processor fitted with steel blade. Pulse on and off until mixture forms a rough paste. Place fish in shallow baking pan. Spread tops evenly with almond mixture. Bake in center of oven 12 to 15 minutes until fish is opaque throughout. Remove from oven. Garnish with lemon slices. Makes 4 servings.

Orange Ladyfinger DessertBy: rosalee63, NJ.

1 envelope(1/4 ounce) unflavored gelatin1 tablespoon granulated sugar1 1/4 cups Florida Orange Juice2 (8-ounce) cartons vanilla low-fat yogurt1 (3-ounce) package ladyfingers, splitDirections: In a small saucepan combine gelatin and sugar. Stir in orange juice. Stir over low heat until gelatin dissolves. Transfer to a medium mixing bowl. Chill about 45 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Add yogurt. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes or until slightly foamy. Wrap foil around outside bottom of 8-inch springform pan to keep filling

from leaking through. Cut ladyfingers in half crosswise. Cover bottom of pan with ladyfinger pieces. Place remain-ing ladyfinger pieces, cut ends down, around sides of pan. Spoon gelatin mix-ture into pan. Cover; chill four hours or until firm. Remove sides of pan. Makes 8 servings.

Strawberries a La Cream CheeseBy: irshraindrop, CT.

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened2 tablespoons orange liqueur, sherry or other liqueur of your choice3 tablespoons powdered sugar1 quart strawberriesMint leaves for garnish (optional)Directions: In a medium mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy, gradually adding sherry and sugar. Wash straw-berries in cold water. Drain well and dry excess moisture with paper towels; then hull. From point, slit each berry into quarters, but do not cut through bottom. Using a cake decorator, fill each berry with cheese mixture, bring-ing to a peak at the top. Refrigerate. To serve, arrange on mounds of crushed ice. Garnish with mint leaves, if desired. Makes 6 servings.

Supreme Banana Cream DessertBy: darlenejames, NJ.

2 cups graham cracker crumbs1/2 cup melted butter1/4 cup granulated sugar1 (12-ounce) container non-dairy whipped topping1 (3.5-ounce) box instant vanilla pud-ding1 cup sour cream3 firm, ripe bananas, sliced1/3 cup toasted walnuts, finely choppedDirections: Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and sugar; press into the bottom and 1-inch up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 375°F. for 7 to 10 minutes. Cool. Combine pudding mix and sour cream; fold in whipped topping. Spoon half of mixture onto cooled crust. Layer sliced bananas over mixture; top with remain-ing cream mixture. Sprinkle top with walnuts. Chill for several hours before serving. Makes 10 to 12 servings.

Friends help friends... and if your friends are bikers, well I guess you know your really gonna’ be getting some help!

No doubt about it, especially as in this case when friends and family got together to help Frankie (stricken with some rough medical problems). A benefit was put together to help Frankie (who is the son of local favorite tattooist, Arlene) with his medical costs. You couldn’t ask for a nicer day as the New Egypt Elks backfield loaded up with bikes and cars (many custom and vintage). The event was filled with many activities like a bikini bike wash (who doesn’t like wet tattooed lovely ladies?!), bike games, silent auction, vendors and killer BBQ from “Bubba-que a Taste from Texas” ( brisket!.....gotta’ try the brisket!!) Several live bands rocked the pavilion, a bike and antique/custom hot rod show.....the list goes on. Most of all by the end of the day, it was way cool to see the generosity of family and friends that came out to help this young man in need......hey that’s what it’s all about!!

A LOOK BACK IN TIME...WITH ‘PULSATING PAULA’


SUNDAy, NOVEMBER 18, 2012 • RAHWAy, NJ

Liberty Harley-Davidson’s H.O.G. Chapter held their 14th Annual Toy Run on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Hundreds of enthusiastic riders met in Liberty’s parking lot, bringing new toys for the in-patient children at the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. After donuts, coffee and renewals of old friendships, riders saddled up for the police escorted half mile long parade to the hospital. Once there, H.O.G. Officers presented the truckload of toys to hospital administrators, as well as several X-Boxes for use in the children’s areas at the hospital. Santa then went from room to room with gifts for the in-patient kids. Afterwards, everyone returned to the American Legion Hall in Rahway for a pasta dinner and more camaraderie.

It’s amazing how in the last five years, much of the communication between my firm and my motorcycle accident clients is taking place via social media and e-mail. As a result, every time we get a call from a potential client we tell them to strictly use their computers to communicate with us and to stay off social media sites. As a motorcycle accident lawyer, most of my clients suffer severe injuries and a large percentage use their computers to document and memorialize their injuries and to locate a motorcycle accident attorney, or more specifically a Pennsylvania or New Jersey motorcycle attorney. We warn our clients about the dangers of social media, because the law firms that are hired by the insurance companies have begun to request passwords, giving them unfettered access to any social media sites you may have created. Although I have written on this subject before, recently during the deposition of one of my clients, the defense attorney asked my client for his Facebook information. We did not provide it and I am now responding to a motion that has been filed to force my client to produce that information. I know that it may be second nature to go onto Facebook and advise all of your “friends” that you have been involved in a motorcycle accident, however, the posting of injury photos and the damage to your bike could end up being used against you. Recently, the trial court in Indiana County, PA after reviewing an opinion from Northumberland County, PA in the case of Zimmerman vs. Weiss Markets, dealt with the discovery of Facebook information and opined that “by virtue of the Plaintiff’s allegations in her complaint in the personal injury matter, the Plaintiff placed her “physical condition at issue”. Accordingly the Court held; that the Defendant was entitled to conduct discovery in an effort to obtain information relevant and related to the cause of action stated, which may include access to social networking sites”. The Court further ruled that a Plaintiff “cannot maintain a reasonable expectation of privacy when she created the account and voluntarily posted the information knowing that the information could become publically available”. Therefore, if you are ever in a situation where you need to retain a motorcycle accident attorney, I would advise that you dial 1-888-CyCLE-LAW, ask for Lee Gaber and temporarily sign off of social media sites.

Given the severity of most of my client’s injuries, once they hire a motorcycle accident attorney they expect our office to do everything we can to recover the maximum settlement possible. As such, when a third party carrier is being unreasonable, we file a claim against the person who caused the accident and your own insurance company for underinsured motorist benefits. Recently in Allegheny County, in the matter of Stepanovich v. McGraw and State Farm Insurance Company, this is exactly what happened. The Judge presiding over the case went on to characterize the insurance company as “another interested party” and permitted a “double teaming” of the Plaintiff by allowing the insurance company and the person who caused the

accident to have counsel during the trial. As a result the Plaintiff lost the trial and post-trial motions were filed. After the post-trial motions, the Judge reversed his own ruling, granted a new trial directing that the defendant insurance company should be identified to the jury. The trial judge wrote “by allowing the insurance company to remain unidentified, was advancing the perpetuation of a myth that has outlived its usefulness”. The Judge further opined that virtually every juror that owns an automobile

or drives one, knows about the necessity in our complex society to have insurance on that vehicle. Jurors are also aware under Pennsylvania Law, that every automobile owner must have his vehicle insured, thus it is a denial of reality to pretend that insurance is not involved in every motor vehicle case. In doing so, the judge was actually saying that every reasonable juror understands that there is motor vehicle insurance, or should be, in every auto or motorcycle claim and therefore to refuse to identity the name of the underinsured motorist carrier for fear of prejudicing that insurance carrier, is in reality a myth.
