BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/GOALS:This well-designed program will teach students the basics of clothing construction, industrial sewing, pattern making, textiles, textile art, fashion sketching and design, computerized grading, and marker making. Students learn through both instructional theory and hands-on practical projects. Once students have mastered the fashion design and production techniques, they will advance to the high-tech equipment and software used in developing patterns.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE PROGRAM:• Honolulu CC’s Fashion Technology program is the only community college program of its kind on O‘ahu.• The annual fashion show is highly anticipated by industry professionals and the media.• The only fully-equipped computerized classroom for pattern-making, grading, and marker making in Hawai‘i.• Exciting and unusual electives such as fashion show production; swimwear; bridal; tailoring; pattern drafting; alterations; knitwear; men's wear; and embelishments.

ITEMIZED ESTIMATE OF EDUCATIONAL COSTS:• Tuition based on total credits taken.• Text books are $200 - $500 per semester.• The cost for supplies vary depending on projects ($150 - $500 per semester).
