HISTORYOn September 15, 2005, with only a three day notice, thirty fashion industry leaders came together to figure out how the industry could provide relief to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. While larger national relief organizations existed, there was no structure in place to organize the immediate collection and distribution of excess product to those so desperately in need. Under the leadership of Allan Ellinger, the group canvassed the retail and home industries to gauge participation.

The response was overwhelming. Over $4.5 million dollars worth of product was collected and channeled directly to victims suffering from the devastation. What began as a vision has turned into an incredible charitable endeavor to provide hope to those in need. MISSIONThe mission of Fashion Delivers Charitable Foundation, Inc. is to unify the men’s and women’s apparel and home industries to donate new product in order to aid victims of disasters and individuals in need throughout the year.

We match need with our availability of product coming from both wholesale and retail fashion industry vendors — some of the biggest names in the fashion and home industries. Through a strategic alliance with K.I.D.S., we have structured a global network of more than one thousand local agencies that we coordinate with in the donation and delivery of excess products. While our organization provides aid to those in need, we also provide economic and philanthropic alternatives for companies disposing of their excess inventory. FASHION DELIVERS TODAYOur distinguished Boards continue to drive our vision. The Board of Directors is composed of luminaries from the apparel and home sectors. The Associate Board raises awareness in fashion-related industries and beyond, targeting a younger demographic while building a passionate new group of leaders. With tremendous growth over the last few years, Fashion Delivers has distributed over $30 million dollars in donations. For 2008 alone, Fashion Delivers projected to distribute over $15 million dollars in product donations to those in need, both in the United States and across the globe.

Help us continue the momentum. Learn more about how you or your organization can join our cause…

KIDS, FASHION DELIVERS EVENT RAISES RECORD $1.1 MILLION

Charitable Foundation, inc.

New York - it was a record-breaking night at the second annual KidS/Fashion delivers gala.

the two organizations worked together to raise $1.1 million for their causes at tuesday’s benefit, which included a silent auction, held at the Pierre hotel here. With more than 750 people in attendance, the event beat last year’s total of $740,000.

the gala, at which Gov. eliot Spitzer gave a keynote address, honored Jerry Storch, chairman and chief executive officer of toys ‘r’ us inc.; abbey doneger, president of the doneger Group, and artie rabin, ceo of Wear Me apparel/Kids headquarters for their philanthropic efforts.

as part of the evening, the honorees helped to send off the KidS/Fashion delivers truck, donated by li & Fung, filled with 1,500 toys ‘r’ us toys and other industry donations. the truck is heading to the San diego Food bank to deliver holiday gifts to victims of the West Coast fires.

“it’s really very special how our industry comes together to support causes like this, and it’s really been such a pleasure to see our hard work pay off,” said doneger, who has been actively involved on the KidS board for more than 10 years and the Fashion delivers board. “this is such a great cause that really helps children and families in need.”

rick darling, ceo at li & Fung, is a board member at Fashion delivers, and said he has made the cause his main charity of choice. “it’s a great way to participate in something important, but in a low-key way,” he said.

during his speech, Spitzer made light of the recent controversy surrounding his plan to give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, which has been withdrawn.

“i went to the doctor, and he said, ‘eliot, i want you to take a stress test,’” Spitzer said. “and i said to him, ‘Where have you been over the last 11 months?’”

the hostess of the event was the newest member of abC’s “the View,” Sherri Shepherd.
