After 16 amazing years of employment at Thorndale, 8 of those as CEO this will be my last newsletter.
I have been very fortunate to have been offered another CEO position with a similar organisation and will be leaving Thorndale in early July.
I hope that my contribution to the organisation will be remembered in a positive light. As I look back to how far we have come and the hurdles we have overcome I am very proud to have led such an amazing team of individuals and meet so many individuals with disability along the way.
I am confident that Thorndale is in a fantastic position to thrive in this new world of NDIS and I will be looking from the sidelines over the coming years to see if the plans that we have in place are realised.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank families and participants for their support over the years and hope to have the opportunity to say farewell to many of you over the next few weeks.

New facilities officially open for business!
NDIS Space
Kristie and Rebecca have worked within the disability sector for over 10 years in a number of different roles including Support Worker, Self Managed Funding Coordinator, Respite Coordinator and Recreation Coordinator.
Combined with this experience is a dedication to support people with disability. Their role here at Thorndale is everything NDIS- assisting families with pre planning meetings, supporting families to understand their plans, bringing new families on-board and Support Coordination services.

DID YOU KNOW? New figures released on the 29th of May 2018, show that 44,945 Participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) are receiving support for the first time.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of long term Thorndale resident, Roslyn Simmonds.
Roslyn has been part of the Thorndale family for over 40 years many years.
Rossi was the life of the party, a great friend to others in her home, a great work mate and someone who had a love of life.
Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all that knew her who know that she would want to fill only with memories of the friendship and laughter shared with her.
Our thoughts are with her family at this very difficult time.

The money we raise from the Gala will be directed to fund a state of the art sensory facility for people with high to exceptional support needs, this will be the first of its kind in outer Western Sydney. This facility will provide support to people with disability in our community.
The Thorndale Gala ticket price includes a three course meal, drinks, entertainment by Planet Groove, silent auction, live auction, a wine wall, games, raffles, Tim Webster as MC, magicians and much more, so come and join the fun!
We are very proud and excited to announce the completion of the new facilities at our Thorndale Hub!
The new facilities which include a new shed, larger toilet blocks and larger carpark aim to provide our growing number of supported employees with high quality working conditions, which is vital as we continue to grow our services within the Nepean region.
Excited Production Assistants and Staff put the finishing touches on the new facilities by adding a landscape to our carpark.

Official Launch our new website!We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new website! After four months of hard work, we are delighted to officially announce the launch. The new site launch is available and the URL is www.thorndale.com.au (our website also works with .org.au)
Our goal with this new website is to provide our visitors with an easier way to learn about Thorndale’s services and supports and also to allow the visitor to browse information based on their own choice. The new website is interactive and gives better access to About Us, Services & Supports, NDIS, Make a Difference, Participant Stories, News, Media (photo gallery at this stage, video’s to come), Donate and Join Our Team web pages. Our current and prospective customers will find useful information about our services on the homepage and services & support page of our website.
Amongst the new features, the site contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn to foster improved communication with participants, families and carers. We will be constantly updating our content with helpful information, articles, blogs, newsletters, company announcements and participant successes in the Latest News & Events section.
We hope you find the new website with a fresh look, easy to access information and we also wish to establish this portal as a source of information for those who visit our site.
You’re invited to the Thorndale Open day on 26 June. Everyone is
welcome to come in and view our services between 10am-6pm.
