Charlie JayneBorn: March 11, 1986 Hometown: Elgin, IllinoisAthena – 11-year-old KWPN mare owned by The London Group.

Charlie Jayne might as well be part horse. He grew up

on his family’s farm outside of Chicago and horses were

always part of his life. Aside from a brief respite during

his five-year-old year when he played soccer, Jayne has

been in the saddle ever since. Along with his parents,

Alex and Linda, and his sister, Maggie, the Jayne fam-

ily runs the definition of a family business. His younger

sister, Haylie, also rode on the University of Georgia

Equestrian Team.

Jayne won his first grand prix the summer he finished

high school in Michigan, riding JF. He was 18.

Jayne won the USET Maxine Beard Show Jumping De-

veloping Rider Award in 2006, which recognizes accom-

plishment by an up-and-coming show jumper. He also

won the USEF Talent Search Finals – East.

In 2007, the successful junior rider made the transition

into the senior ranks and at the age of 20 represented

the United States on the Gold medal-winning Team at

the CSIO Buenos Aires in November with Urbanus. In

April he won the Palm Beach Toyota $25,000 Grand Prix

with Thomas Edison. He was then second and fourth

with Urbanus and Thomas Edison, respectively, at the

Rocky Mountain Classic $40,000 High Prairie Grand Prix

in Colorado in July. Urbanus was then second again the

following week in the $60,000 High Prairie Grand Prix at

the Colorado Summer Classic.

In 2008, Jayne was named to the USEF Show Jumping

Short List for the 2008 Olympic Games with Urbanus

after an impressive performance at the USEF Selection

Trials for Show Jumping. He then represented the US in

the first three Samsung Super Leagues with the FEI Na-

tions Cup Team in Europe, turning in consistent results.

In the spring of 2009, Jayne had success with his horses.

Most notably he guided Urbanus to fourth-place finishes

in the FEI World Cup Grand Prix CSI4* in Wellington, FL,

as well as at the Budweiser American Invitational held

in Tampa, FL. With Thomas Edison, he won the $25,000

Charlotte Welcome Grand Prix in Charlotte, NC, in April.

Also in 2009, Jayne and Urbanus were part of the US ef-

fort on Tour Three of Meydan FEI Nations Cup. While in

Europe, Jayne and Urbanus were second in the $30,753

Grand Prix of Dublin. He finished the 2009 season on a

high, winning the $25,000 Spy Coast/ Sweet Oak Farm

Grand Prix in Wellington on Sampras.

The 2010 competition year started off successfully for

Jayne. He was fourth with Sampras at the CSI3*-W

Jacksonville International in mid-January. This finish was

on the heels of a fifth place finish on the same horse at

the $25,000 Bahamas Eco Grand Prix. Jayne and Sam-

pras continued their successful season with an eighth

place finish in the $50,000 EMO Grand Prix in February.

Jayne finished off his strong 2010 campaign by collect-

ing top placings with the Belgian mare, Athena, in the

fall. They were winners of the $125,000 Strongid C 2X

Grand Prix in Saugerties. Three weeks later, the pair

were second, behind McLain Ward and Sapphire, in the

$1,000,000 Pfizer Grand Prix.

In 2011, Jayne began the season jumping successfully

on both US coasts. With Urbanus, he was eighth in the

$40,000 Equine Couture/Tuff Rider Grand Prix at the

FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida. On the HITS

circuit at Thermal, Jayne and Athena won the $31,000

HITS Welcome Classic on February 3. He also collected

an eighth place finish in the $50,000 HITS Grand Prix

with Uraya in March.

This summer Jayne and Athena have competed on the

US team at FEI Nations Cup stops in La Baule, Rome and

St. Gallen.

Jayne graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca

Raton, FL, in May, 2008 with a degree in business man-

agement. Despite all of the awards he’s picked up over

the years, he considers the fact that he was able to ride

full-time and graduate in five years to be his greatest

accomplishment.

Christine McCrea has always been a consistent perform-

er for the U.S. Team and 2009 was certainly no excep-

tion.

McCrea represented the U.S. at the 2009 Rolex/FEI

World Cup Final in April in Las Vegas. At the 2009 Final

she rode the appropriately named Vegas. The pair won

the $100,000 Budweiser FEI World Cup Qualifier of

With Promised Land, McCrea was second in the

$150,000 CN Grand Prix on March 1, 2009 and third in

the Tampa Bay Classic, the final qualifier for the year’s

Promised Land she was fifth in both Round One of the

WEF Challenge Cup Series and the $75,000 Nespresso

Classic and later in the month were fifth in the $100,000

Grand Prix of Devon-Celeste McNeal Harper Perpetual.

2011 has started off well for McCrea and the Dutch

Warmblood gelding. Once again jumping at the FTI Win-

ter Equestrian Festival, they were seventh in the fifth

round of the WEF Challenge Cup Series. They picked

up another seventh place finish in the CSI4*-W at the

Winter Equestrian Festival in March.

Over the summer of 2011, McCrea travelled to Europe to

take part in the FEI Nations Cup Series. With Romantov-

ich Take One, she jumped two clear rounds over a tough

track in St. Gallen in the Nations Cup and two days later

jumped to a strong third place finish in the Longines

Lucy DavisBorn: October 22, 1992 Residence: Los Angeles, CANemo 119– 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Old Oak Farm.

At just 18 years old Lucy Davis is a force in the Grand

Prix ranks – competing and winning against some of the

country’s best.

Davis got an early start, riding as soon as she could walk

and taking lessons by the age of five. It was a natural pro-

gression for her to take up riding early on as her grandfa-

ther works in the horse racing industry.

Throughout her career Davis has been active in both the

jumper and equitation ranks. In 2010, she was fourth in

the USEF Medal Finals at the Penn National Horse Show.

Davis jumped in her first Grand Prix, the $25,000 CA

Horse Trader Grand Prix, in the fall of 2008 and was

second.

In the summer of 2009, Davis and True Love, travelled

to Lexington, KY for the Adequan FEI North American

Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by

Gotham North – they earned the Individual Silver medal in

the Young Rider Championships for Zone 10.

Their second place at the 2009 Championships earned

them a trip to compete in the Youngster Cup at CSI

Frankfurt in December of that year. In the final round,

Davis and True Love were the only combination to jump

clear – they beat many of the best European Young Rid-

ers to take top honors.

In the summer of 2010 Davis expanded her European

experience, spending a month working for Meredith and

Markus Beerbaum in Germany. After her stint with the

Beerbaums, Davis returned to the U.S and rode Nemo

119 on the gold-medal winning team at the Adequan FEI

North American Junior and Young Rider Championships

presented by Gotham North. They also finished fifth

individually.

Davis started the 2011 season by collecting top placings at

every turn on the Desert Circuit in California. In January,

Davis and Hannah were fifth in the $50,000 EMO Grand

Prix.

Nemo 119 and Davis kicked off the month of March by

winning the $50,000 HITS World Cup Qualifier. Davis

returned to the Grand Prix ring the following day and

rode Hannah to win the $25,000 Smart Pak Grand Prix

presented by Pfizer Animal Health.

Nemo and Davis returned to the ring the following week-

end and beat a star-studded field in the largest class of

the Desert Circuit, the $200,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix.

This was also Davis’ fourth consecutive Grand Prix win, as

two days earlier she rode Hannah to win another $25,000

Smart Pak Grand Prix presented by Pfizer Animal Health.

In April, Nemo 119 and Davis once again led the victory

gallop at the Blenheim Spring Classic III after winning the

$50,000 Royal Champion Grand Prix. This victory was just

hours after Davis and Hannah won a 1.35m Classic.

as a precocious junior rider winning both the AHSA

Hunter Seat Medal Final and the ASPCA Maclay Final at

the tender age of 14, the youngest rider ever to do so.

the Gold medal-winning Pan American Games team in

1959 and on the Silver medal-winning team at the 1960

Rome Olympic Games. Between 1958 and 1960, he rode

served as Chef d’Equipe for numerous Nations Cup

teams including as Co-Chef d’Equipe at the 1999 Pan

they won a Team Silver medal and Beezie Madden won

Individual Silver with the mighty Authentic. In 2007,

he guided the Pan American Games team to a bronze

medal in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Team Gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong.

The US riders won a jump-off with the Canadians for the

Gold medal, Madden also won Individual Bronze.
