FALL 2020
UWL MOVE INDue to Covid-19, we have expanded our typical move-in to a week long process. This allows families to physically distance from one another. Masks are required on the UWL campus. If you have been exposed to Covid-19 near the time of move-in, or you are exhibiting symptoms, please do not come to campus. Contact our office to make alternate plans.
Before You Come to Campus
If you are coming to campus alone, you have mobility limitations, or there are other circumstances where you will need move-in assistance, please note that on the sign-up form when you pick the date and time of your arrival. You can also contact our office at [email protected].
These are the dates that the majority of our first year students will move into the halls. Move-in timeslots are broken down by building. There are morning and afternoon times. You should be able to find a time that works best for you.
Early Arrival housing is for specific groups of students who need to come to campus early. If you are part of one of these groups, you do not need to sign up for a move-in time.
Early Belonging Drop-off is a great way to simplify your move in day experience, and get a headstart. On these dates you can come to campus any time that fits your schedule. You can move in then go back home for a few days before New Student Orientation.
While most of our first year students will be moved in by the 6th, we understand that everyone’s plans will be different. Our returning students start moving in on the afternoon of the 6th. First year students can still move in at this time.
Please review these recomendations for your Fall 2020 transition before you travel to campus.

Watch for an email from Textbook Rental Services during the first week of August. It will contain information on how to schedule a required time to stop in and pick up your fall textbooks so that we can properly social distance during the checkout time period. Checkouts will begin on August 17th!
As campus navigates student safety, we are making slight adjustments to meals plans and the locations/times of food availability. We encourage you to continue to check back on the Dining website for additional information as we approach move in. Your contracted meal plan will begin Wednesday, September 2 with dinner! You can find the most updated information on our UWL Dining Website.
New Student Orientation (NSO) occurs at the start of the fall semester and is designed to provide the experiences and information for a successful transition to UWL. NSO is for all new students to UWL and offers a variety of programs, services, activities, and fun events designed to welcome and introduce students to all of the engagement opportunities at UWL. Through New Student Orientation, there are plenty of opportunities to meet other new and returning students, find out ways to get involved, and prepare for the academic year. NSO events will start on Sunday, September 6th and will occur through Monday, September 7th. Students will also be sent an email in late August about completing some portions of NSO online within a Canvas course (similar to the Virtual START program).
Your fall parking permits will be vailid starting on Monday, September 7th at 9pm. At this time you will need to make sure that your vehicle is in the correct permited lot. During move-in week students can park in the parking ramp on La Crosse Street after they are done moving into their residence hall.
For more information about parking permits, you can visit the parking website
Campus offices hours may vary dependent on the day you come to campus. Please review Office hours here, to see when the services you need are available.
Think about if you need to.... - Meet with financial aid- Talk with your academic advisor - Purchase a parking permit
Most students have completed the necessary steps to have their Student ID printed and ready for them at move in. You will pick up your Eagle ID when you check into your residence hall. Your ID will be needed for access to your residence hall, meal plans, textbook rental and much more. If you have not completed the steps for creating your ID, please do so by August 3rd. If you are having issues with uploading your picture please e-mail the Eagle ID card office at: [email protected]. Please include your phone number, so we can give you a call and help you get your picture submitted.
Your car will remain where you are instructed to park for the durationof your move-in window. Follow signage from your assigned lot to your residence hall.

Most parking lots on campus cannot accommodate oversized trucks or vehicles pulling trailers. We discourage using them for move in. Howev-er, if you must use this type of vehicle, please be aware that you will be asked to park in the C7 parking lot or on a campus-adjacent street which may not be near your residence hall.

Use containers or boxes with handles - this makes it easier to carry items from the parking lot to your hall.
Label items - Use masking tape and a sharpie. Include your name & room number.
Coordinate with your Roommate - check to make sure you aren’t bringing duplicates.
Don’t Overpack - are there seasonal items you can bring later?
Check our Website - We have more information of what to bring and what not to bring.
While we do accept packages and shipped items to the front desks of each hall, we have limited hours and space for large items. Front desks will not begin accepting packages until August 28. Items sent before the 28th will likely be may be returned to sender. After August 28, items can be mailed to the respective residence hall address. See our website for details.
We have a limited amount of wheeled carts available for use during move-in. You are welcome to bring your own dolly or cart. Please keep in mind that Eagle and Reuter are the only residence halls with an elevator. But carts and dollies will be helpful for moving items from the parking lot to the exterior doors of the residence hall.
PARKING MAP
Park & Stay
When you arrive to your lot, you will be guided into a parking space and greeted by a Parking Lot Lead. You will receive a hangtag for your vehicle. Complete this tag by writing the name of the student, the room number, and a cell phone number for someone who can move the vehicle if needed.
You have a 4 hour window of time to move your belongings into the hall. Once you have completed this, you can move your car to empty car parking located in the parking ramp on La Crosse Street. If you bring more than 1 vehicle, you will have to alternate as you can only have 1 in the lot at a time.
