Dear Professionals, Faculty, and Members: As President of the Student Accounting Society, it is my honor to present the Fall 2016 SAS Membership Directory. This directory is composed of those individuals who are on track to achieve active status this semester by having attended all of our organization-al meetings and being active through social activities, community service and fundrais-ing. I would like to congratulate all of them for their hard work and commitment to the organization and encourage them to remain involved as we approach the midpoint in the semester. The success of the Student Accounting Society is largely due to the efforts and dedica-tion of the executive board. Without them, the organization would not be the same. I would like to express my deepest thanks to Jimmy Nyguen, Fiona Jahn, Ralph Molina, Kevin Rampen, Joon Kim, Shahin Monjezi, Beth Salinas, and Luqi Zhang. It has been an honor working with each and every one of you and I am very proud of your academic, professional, and personal accomplishments. I would also like to thank our directors for their efforts and support of our operations: Joe Johnston, Stephen Linn, Marla Rusell, Linda Sananixay, and Yolanda Songvilay. Leaders like each and every one of you make this organization successful in achieving its goals. The Student Accounting Society has been serving San Diego State University accounting students since 1957 by connecting members with professionals in the industry. I would like to thank all of the professionals and weekly guest speakers who have taken the time to support our members. It is through the knowledge shared at our meetings and events that we are able to make a smooth transition from students to young profes-sionals. I would also like to thank the accounting faculty and staff for their support in our de-velopment both inside and outside the classroom. I would like to give special thanks to our faulty advisor Dr. Nathan Oestreich, Dr. Damon M. Fleming, the Director of the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy for their continuing support of the Student Accounting Society and the accounting students at San Diego State University. Lastly but certainly not the least, I would like to thank all of the SAS members that have made my time as a member of the Student Accounting Society one to remember. It has truly been a great honor and experience serving as President and Executive Vice President for the Student Accounting Society. This has been both the most challenging and rewarding time of my life, and I look forward to the continuing impact that Stu-dent Accounting Society has on San Diego State as we approach the end the year and the beginning of a new one. About Student Accounting Society The Student Accounting Society (SAS) was originally part of the National Association of Accountants (NAA). SAS has become one of the most outstanding clubs on the SDSU campus. The Student Accounting Society is committed to serving the needs and interests of future accountants. With over 100 members, it has proven to be a beneficial resource to Accounting Majors at San Diego State University. Our Mission Statement Our objective is to assist accounting students in becoming better informed about the accounting profession, introduce them to the career opportunities within the accounting industry, coordinate events with professionals that will help guide them on their career path, and help them take that first step into their chosen profession. Our Goals Promoting interaction between students, faculty, and professionals through educa-

tional workshop, community service, and social events. Encouraging student involvement, leadership, and excellence in both SAS and SDSU Providing members with a forum to learn about the different careers in the accounting

field Assisting students in reaching their academic and professional goals by offering tutor-

ing, mentoring, and networking opportunities. Membership Requirements Subject to the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws, any person, who upon receipt of their membership application meets the following qualifications, may become a member of the Student Accounting Society: Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting. Must be currently enrolled at San Diego State University. Active Status Requirements In order to gain active member status in the Student Accounting Society, as well as benefit from all that the organization has to offer, we have established a point system. For every activity you attend, you will receive one point. You must earn a minimum of 11 points by the end of the semester in order to achieve active status recognition. You must achieve the point requirements in these categories: 1. Attend any combination of six (6) classroom meetings or social events. 2. Attend one (1) community service event. Worth 2 points each. 3. Attend one (1) fundraising event. 4. Attend one (1) professional event outside of weekly meetings. 5. Members must attend officer election meeting. Mandatory. 1 point.
