When disaster strikes, lives are turned upside down. Survivors often need food, clothing, shelter and spir-itual care as they begin to cope with tragedy and loss. Responding to these hurting people is a vital part of who we are as members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). We show mercy and love to our communities because of the great grace and love that God has first shown to us.

Join a Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training event near you to learn how congregations and even individual members like you can be better prepared to show Christ’s love to the community when a disaster strikes. Attendees will receive training in the following areas:

1. Why volunteer? 2. Volunteer safety 3. Legal issues and working with others 4. General debris cleanup 5. Flood and hurricane cleanup 6. Roof tarp and patch 7. Additional certification opportunities

Attendees also will receive an LCMS Disaster Response credential that will give them credibility as they enter disaster zones in a coordinated and collaborative effort to assist those in need. The cost is $20 and you can make check payable to the FLGA District, LCMS or you may pay online here .

CRAFT GROUP - WE NEED USED CANDLES

The Craft Group will be making Christmas ornaments from waxed candles. We only need white, red or green candles. Many of us now use battery operated candles and have used and unused can-dles we can get rid of. We will be melting them to form beautiful decorations to hang on your tree.

We need these as soon as possible as it takes time to prepare and melt the wax for our October 16th class. Come join us for the fun of making your own wax ornaments.

You may leave the candles in the church office or drop them in the box provided in the narthex. If you have any questions, call Judith Gonnerman 561-386-3218. Thank you for your support.

UPCOMING CRAFT CLASSES

Oct. 16th - Make & Decorate Wax Christmas Ornaments

IF anyone has an idea for a class please let me know. It can be a new idea or revive something that has been done in the past. The DIY Internet (DIY.com) has lots of craft ideas. Check this out. Happy Crafting, Judith Gonnerman 561-386-3218

JEWELRY NEEDED FOR

THE SEPTEMBER RUMMAGE SALE

Here we go again. Our jewelry table is always a big attraction. After the May rummage sale our

inventory has greatly depleted. We need more donations than before.

Now is a great time to go thru your costume jewelry and decide to clean out those items you have-

n’t worn in years. It takes a lot of time to sort and price and we appreciate if all donations be

made as soon as possible. We request that all items be in gently used condition. No broken parts

and all fasteners must be in workable condition.

You may leave your donations at the office and we can pick it up there.

Thank you for your support.
