Dear Year R, here is your week’s Fairy tale fun themed home learning. Hope you enjoy it, Mrs C x Themed activities: My favourite activity- Create Fairytale potions, see separate sheet for great recipes using your own magic! Don’t forget your magic wands. Cbeebies storytime Puss in boots, Red Riding Hood, Ugly Duckling, Design a wanted poster for a fairytale baddy. Discuss how they could make good choices. Make your own fairy tale land with various characters; it could be a map, story, drawing. Rapunzels hair dressers and health spa- a great opportunity for some relaxation and pampering! Pretend to style hair, paint nails, give massages and pay people compliments. Practise your plaiting using string or thread. Can you make different lengths of hair for the princesses? Fairytale dressing up Fri 22 nd May- please send in photos for us to share and wear your outfit to our zoom session. Literacy activities: Listen to the story of the Elves and the shoemaker, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood. Use a book at home, you tube, online story teller or www.twinkl.co.uk You might like to listen to the ‘fairytale hairdresser’ story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1v7aOc_OGc ‘Guess who’ character descriptions. Using character pictures or a name written and stuck on your forehead you can either ask questions to guess which fairy tale character you are or the other player can describe them. For dressing up day, write all about the character you would like to become. Say 1 sentence at a time, then write it using your letter sound picture chart to help with sounding out. Remember finger spaces and spelling tricky red words that you know. Grown ups – Don’t worry about spelling, it can be as Maths activities: Measuring with shoes. Write down how many shoes long certain items are. Make a list of things that are shorter than a shoe and things that are longer than a shoe. Count all the shoes in your house or how many for each member in the house. Extend this to counting in 2’s (i.e pairs) Could you arrange the shoes in size (or height) order? Money- make your own shoe shop, or another type of shop. Make some labels and price tags (keep the pricing simple from 1p-20p). There could be a half price sale or special offers. If possible pay in 1p coins (not 10p,5p,20p) Measure the magic wands activity sheet. Remember to use a ruler, start at 0 and use cm.
