Fulham Reach Boat Club was established in 2013 and is the first rowing club to be built on this part of the Thames in half a century. As well as continuing the area’s proud rowing legacy, it’s championing an exciting new vision for the sport.
Rowing has been an important part of Fulham life for centuries and is still hugely popular internationally. Fulham is at the heart of it all. The country’s top crews train right here, and the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race is held on this stretch of the river every year – when Fulham Reach residents will find themselves with grandstand seats. Brasserie Blanc at Fulham Reach serves delicious, freshly prepared food, inspired by the home cooking of Raymond Blanc’s mother. It’s a restaurant where people can come together in a relaxed and welcoming place and enjoy delightful seasonal dishes.
People might see the name Raymond Blanc and imagine this is a place exclusively for fine dining – but it’s not the case. Of course, it’s certainly the ideal spot for a romantic dinner, and they can host truly special occasions, but the Brasserie is here to be whatever people want or need it to be. They can enjoy a family lunch, grab a weekend brunch or pop in for an after-work drink with friends – whatever takes their fancy. Raymond’s vision is that the residents of Fulham Reach and others in the community will find the restaurant to be a home-from-home and get to know the team. The Thames Path feels like the restaurant’s front garden, so people might stop while walking the dog, grab a coffee and use the Wi-Fi.
The renowned chef also suspects that people in South West London are exceptionally savvy when it comes to food and will appreciate the time and skill put into creating good dishes. It’s why he thinks the Brasserie will excite them. Seasonality is so important to Raymond, and that’s reflected in every dish on the menu here.
