FINANCIAL DICTIONARYEMV - EMV stands for Europay, Mastercard® and Visa®.

EMV chip technology is becoming the global standard for credit and debit card payments. This smart

chip technology features cards with embedded chips that help increase security and reduce fraud. You

may also hear these cards referred to as “chip” cards.

MEMBER SERVICES: DEBIT & CREDIT CARD CONVERSIONDebit Cards:

Recently, FAA FCU adopted new EMV "chip" debit cards to enhance security on member accounts and

purchases. The necessary conversion process had a few glitches and we want to apologize for the

inconvenience. Rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep problems to a

minimum. Please notify us if you experience any ongoing issues with your card, or if you wish to speak

to a representative about the added security services we offer with these debit cards.

In addition to improving the security of our debit cards, we have also upgraded our service provider,

which gives us the ability to be more responsive to member inquiries. As we continue to make

improvements in our systems and with our services, we also request that you take the time to review

any communications you receive from the credit union as valuable and sometimes time sensitive

information is included in them. Also, please make sure your preferred contact information is up to date

in our system.

Thank you for your continued loyalty, support and patience through this conversion. We continue to

look for ways to provide you the best in member value, personal financial protection and the good

service that you both deserve and expect.

Credit Cards:

Similar to the switch in debit cards, we are also converting to EMV cards and a new service provider for

our credit cards. Your old card can still be used until April 10th, at which point it will no longer work. You

may then activate your new card to avoid service interruption. Please keep an eye on your mail to make

sure you secure your new card and hold it until this date. There will also be several letters that you

should carefully review to get the full benefits from your new card. Please notify us immediately if you

have any questions or issues after reviewing these documents.

If you do not currently have a VISA credit card with FAA FCU, we would like to remind you that we offer

cards for a variety of purposes and that have variable rates as low as 9.25% APR* based on prime. Our

Platinum Card is the best option in the case of emergencies or for those who wish to convert and pay

down higher rate cards. Our Rewards Card gives our members the opportunity to earn rewards through

the new UChoose Rewards® Program (also beginning April 10th), which is a point-based system where

members can choose rewards they are most interested in. Our Collegiate and Share Secured VISA

Cards provide excellent opportunities for establishing or improving credit. Speak to a loan officer today

3 THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN USING EMV CHIP CARDS

1. Insert the card, chip side, fully into the terminal.

2. Leave the card inserted while following the on screen prompts and waiting for the transaction to process.

3. Remove the card when prompted to do so upon the completion of the transaction.
