tomboy sophisticateSporty chic nuances and gentlemen’s accents combine ’90s grunge with collegiate pride.

concoction of leather and plaid. Athletic spirited silhouettes show off team pride in

leather

This tough girl fabrication has been transformed for every girl’s wardrobe. Leather was seen in all
categories for fall and is best when worn head-to-toe. The versatility of this fabric of the season is on the top
of everyone’s list with the excitement that it can be worn day or night. No matter what her style is, accent
details of leather on an ensemble, or a manipulation of the fabric such as embossing to mimic pyramid
studs, laser-cut details in lace patterns, or quilted styling of motocross on shoulders or patched onto knees
elevates edge into sophistication. The quality of leather has risen to the occasion with refined leathers
continuing while vegan leathers have been perfected to emulate the realistic feel. Key items throughout the
fall season make a statement from leather on jackets, bottoms and everything in between.

varsity bomber
What once was young and collegiate is now interpreted to be every
fashionista’s go-to third piece. This item is neither tomboy nor school
girl, but is a statement jacket that takes sporty to a new stylish level.
Borrow your boyfriend’s letterman jacket for the oversized silhouette
but keep it refined with elements of scarf print silks, embroidery,
quilting, leopard or camo prints, nubby tweeds and leather sleeves.
Options are open with everyday fleece styles or the directional item
that can be layered over a dressy ensemble for a menswear attitude.

fashion legging
Surprise! Contemporary has a hit bottom that not only has ease, but
is vamped up. The fashion legging is one of the must-have bottoms
and the ultimate layering piece for fall with novelty hits keeping
it new. This go-to bottom is patchworked, cut & sewn, exposed
seaming, and colorblocked in different fabrics, including leather,
suede, ponté, coated, and scuba. Zipper details give an element of
edge and black combined with white, navy or oxblood hues changes
up the solid basic. Pull it on with an elastic waist or button it up with
a mock waistband.

pullover sweater
Whether crew or V-neck, cropped or waist-length, the pullover
sweater is the fall staple. The difference this time is its more
whimsical feel with graphics and intarsia patterns making it a bold
item for those gray days. Color mixing throughout the yarns of the
sweater or braiding, patterns and open stitched weaved stripes make
for an eccentric piece. The raglan sweatshirt body is the newest with
verbiage in clean fonts, animal faces, and Aztec patterns. Fringe
remains important for the bohemian style setter but overall the
pullover sweater is cleaner and worn layered over a collared shirt.

the jeanAs denim remains a mainstay, whether she owns one pair or 20, there
is a cleaner take on the jean for fall acting as a palette cleanser from
the rips and tears of seasons past. The skinny fit stays a priority
and a favorite in the denim classification, the newest accentuated
with moto style stitching and zippers. Leather, waxed, oil-sprayed,
and coated textures are at the forefront. The jean is best in dark
indigo washes, charcoal grays, and black with a slight importance of
subdued colors like oxblood, navy and hunter green. Uptrending is
the slouchier boyfriend silhouette along with military styling and the
return of the cargo pocket.

statement knitsWith the growth of knits, there is no key silhouette; rather, the
fabrication becomes the call-out. Fleece, french terry, linen slub, cotton
jersey, and tissue weight knits all become part of the conversation. The
bare essentials incorporate the basic tee to the statement sweatshirt as
well as the fashion-forward bodies that have a unique take on athletic
gear. Turn the fabric inside out to show off texture. The graphic
story is coveted with geometric illusions, stripes, cosmic, verbiage,
animal faces, leopard print and photo realism. For the most forward
statement, the top-to-bottom tracksuit looks newest in fashion shapes
accented with leather details.

the jodhpur pant
Shifting the shape of the bottom, the Jodhpur pant reinvents the
carrot silhouette in updated leathers, fleece and printed silks. This
forward bottom is loose through the hips and fitted at the ankle. It
completes the outfit for fall with a laidback feel that fits perfectly into
the West Coast lifestyle. The look is directional yet accessible when
paired with casual pieces.

circle skirt
The skirt twists the casual feel of fall with flirty movement and acts
as an important piece to keep the girlish look. The tomboy with
a feminine flair goes to the circle skirt and can be paired with a
sweatshirt or varsity bomber. Hemlines range from mini to mid-thigh
and are seen in a variation of leather, tweed and fleece fabrications.
The skirt finalizes the bottoms category for fall to be paired back
with fun top ideas this season.

collarless woven
Taking the shirt to new dimensions, the collarless woven adds another feminine
mix to the laidback feel of fall. The collarless woven is mostly in lightweight
fabrics, draped styles, peasant tops, as well as sophisticated and traditional
button-fronts with lower necklines. Peplums are also here with more subdued
flounce which also include sleeveless to billowy arms. Lace inserts and
colorblocking take center stage while winter whites, primary solids, and cream
colored hues play back to feminine print messages seen strongest in subtle
florals and animals skins. The non-structured conversation shares the spotlight
with the pretty accents highlighted on the blouse for the season.

the shift dress
In a departure from structured looks, the shift dress is a softer
silhouette that skims the body. Though we do see the waist
accentuated in some styles, the shift dress overpowers in colors,
prints and fabrics across the board including knit and silks. For a
more forward feel, the all-leather dress is a favorite. Paired back
with must-have third pieces, the shift dress becomes a staple for
everyday wear.
