If you ask teachers why they chose this profession, they will say something like “To make a difference” or “To help children to achieve and be the best they can be.” It is certainly a rewarding profession that comes with lots of proud, happy and inspiring moments as well as some disappointing, heartbreaking or frustrating ones too. It is a profession that we follow because we value education, enjoy working with children and want to help create our future leaders! As parents I am sure you want the same things. You as parents are teachers for your children too. You are role models, educators and mentors. Just the same as teachers set the tone of the learning spaces and the expectations of acceptable behaviour, so you do within your own homes, or when you go out together shopping, visiting or for social activities. As significant adults in our students’ lives it is vital we work together to teach them. We need to create an environment that encourages them to learn and provide opportunities for them to achieve their personal best in everything they do. Di Fernand (Assistant Principal)

STUDENT NEWS

Ace Hi Camp

Last week the Year 5/6 Learning Community went to Ace Hi Camp. Ace Hi Camp is located in Shoreham near Cape Schanck. We went for two nights and three days. We divided into four groups; Phar Lap, Black Caviar, Archer & Makybe Diva. We ate lots of great food and did some awesome activities. The nine Activities were; The Giant Swing, Rock Climbing, Archery, Flying Fox, Bush Cooking, Initiative Course/Brain Games, Bush Golf, Trail Ride and The Horse Awareness Program. I especially liked the flying fox because it is fun to fly. The food was amazing because it was healthy and delicious. Living with my friends in our cabin was great because of the triple bunk beds, the private shower and getting along with my friends. I would like to thank the five teachers and four parents Mrs Sally Saunders, Michelle Olufson, Gerry Finan and Anne Mastrangioli for coming on the camp and having fun with all of us. Thanks to Mr. Wormell for coordinating the camp. This year was the best camp ever! I want to go there again some other time so I can try the other activities. I hope the other grades get the opportunity to attend Ace Hi. By Mez the Awesome Funny Comedian - SRP
