52 Ways to Make Extra Money is a practical and proven list of ideas that will help you bring in extra income. That's one idea for every week of the year. Lucky you. It began as a post on my blog, PT Money, but soon became widely popular and even hit the front page of MSN.com.

I thought it would be valuable to revisit this list in the form of an e-book in hopes that it can be shared to a wider audience and help a great number of people. You will find additional guidance (from some expert friends) on a select number of these ideas.

If you're serious about making some extra money, my advice is to pick an idea that sounds good for you and find someone already making money with that idea. Then, learn from them how to make the most of your efforts. You should be able to find something here that fits you and your skills. Alright, enough yapping. Here's the list:

1. Delivering Pizzas - If you have a car and a decent driving record then you qualify for this easy extra money maker. You’re likely to get some free pizzas too.

2. Waiting Tables - This is the perfect job for nights and weekends. That’s when all the big tips are made anyway. Pick the nicest place in town you can find.

3. Bar Tending - Even better, I think, than waiting tables is tending the bar at nights in a busy bar. Typically at least $1 for every drink you serve.

4. Teaching Swimming Lessons - If you’re a good swimmer you might be able to pick up a weekend swim teacher gig at your local recreation center. Keep in mind that some places may require a special certification or that you be a lifeguard. My friend Jason, who blogs at One Money Design, gives his thoughts on swim lessons and other teaching opportunities:

“We all have special skills or talents. For some it’s athletic and for others it might be academic. Either way, using these skills can help others as well as make you some extra money.

As an example, I was a collegiate soccer player. During the off-season I coached competitive youth soccer teams and gave private lessons to youngsters who wanted to accelerate their learning further. I grossed over $500 per month for coaching a couple of teams and giving private lessons on the weekend. Not bad especially if that $500 can be applied to building emergency savings or paying extra on debt. How would I go about it today if I wanted to do the same?

1. Do some digging and find the major competitive sports clubs in your area. You can probably do some searching on the internet and find them pretty easy.

2. Contact the directors and see if they need a coach for one of their youth clubs. Again, in the competitive leagues, these are paid positions. I’ve seen some clubs, depending on the age group; pay in excess of $200 per month for two practices and 1 game per week.

3. Market your background and skills. Once you’re coaching a team, the private lessons are easy to find for competitive players. Check around to see what others are charging, but you can probably get at least $20 per hour.

Whether you want to take an academic approach for students, or use athletic talents, I like the idea because you’re helping the community and getting something in return to help achieve your financial goals.”

It’s time to think outside the box!

5. Car Valet - If you hook up with a for-hire car parking service (the type hired out for fancy neighborhood parties) you can make some nice cash tips in just a few hours at night and on the weekend, when parties are held. This was one of the most enjoyable jobs I had during graduate school. Who doesn't like to drive nice cars?

6. Create Websites - Businesses will pay you to take them online. People that do this well: Empty Cabin Media and Blog Crafted. Even I do a bit of this. Check out Hire PT Money.

7. Blogging - This isn’t quick money, but you can make decent money with a little luck and a few months of solid, consistent effort. Believe me, it can be tough and a bit time consuming, but it can be done.

8. Write an e-book - I hesitate to put this one in here because an e-book by itself usually doesn’t make money unless you’re an excellent marketer. What a great e-book can do though is act as a sales lead to one of your other online businesses. You should see all the stuff I'm going to sell you once you get to the end of this e-book. ;)

9. Design Web Logos - If you’re good with Photoshop and can work quick, you might could make some decent cash with this online business. A friend of mine, Pete, does this. His site is Logos for Websites. Here's more about how he does his thing: “Are you a graphic designer or do you have some artistic talents that you know others are looking for? Why not make some extra money for your bottom line by designing logos or other graphics for people's websites, for their newsletters or for other print applications? Designing web logos obviously isn't for everyone. It will help you quite a bit if you've got some background in graphic design or if you're relatively proficient in design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator or other like products. You don't necessarily have to have a degree in graphic arts, as long as you're able to put together eye pleasing designs that others will love and pay for.

Getting Started on Web Logo Design

So how do you get started designing logos for others? Can you just put together a website and hope that the business will start rolling in? Unfortunately it will take a little bit more work than that.

To get my logo design business started I first started networking with people that I know on the internet that would have a need for design work. Bloggers, IT develop-ers who put together websites for others and people I've met through social media. Next I designed a few logos for free or for extremely cheap rates. A few of these logos for were high visibility bloggers who in turn trumpeted my design services on their sites.” . . . continued on next page

. . . Design Web Logos continued

“Once I had built up a small portfolio and a bit of a buzz I launched a WordPress portfolio site for my design work, showing examples of my logos. I also put up a logo purchase page where people could order different logo and design packages, and pay for them directly through PayPal. I put up questionnaires on the site so people could tell me exactly what they were looking for. The website was setup to make the process of ordering a logo and giving design instructions as easy and hands off as possible. That way, I could spend more time doing the important work of design. Of course I did still have to to do the work of promotion for the site through networking, through writing of design related blog posts to bring in search visitors and through setting up a referral program. Customer Service Is Key Now that I've been doing design work for a while word of mouth does the best job of bringing in new work. When you're doing your design work for your customers, remember that customer service is key. Make sure to maintain good communication, keep your turn around times as short as possible, and to always remember that the customer is always right. If you do those things, you'll be on your way towards having a nice secondary source of income.”

10. Re-write Poorly Written Ads - Search the ad listings at EBay.com and Craigslist.org for big items like cars. Email the seller and offer to re-write their ad for a 1% commission.

11. Write Reviews - There are many websites that will pay you a little cash to write product reviews. If you’re knowledgeable and can write fast, this may work for you.

12. CashCrate - There’s some money to be made with CashCrate.com completing the free offers, but the real cash comes from the referral program. Here's more about CashCrate:

“The way that CashCrate works is companies need consumers to try and review products, services, and websites and are willing to pay money to have them do so. Most of the time you’re asked to do this without any compensation, and sometimes without even knowing. What CashCrate does is take the money that companies give them for your participation through offers, and give you back up to 75% of it!

I have found that doing offers is the quickest way to get money through CashCrate. There are two different types of offers. 100% free offers make up the majority of the offers available. Most of these offers take only minutes to complete and require no further action on your end.” . . . continued on next page

Completing 100% Free Offers with CashCrate

“An example of a free offer that I have recently completed is titled ‘Free Blackberry Phone’. Next to the name of the survey will be a description stating what you need to do to fulfill the requirements to receive credit. In this example the description states, ‘Participate in the survey.’ You DO NOT have to do anymore than what is in the description. Once in the survey there may be several different offers, only sign up for these if you are interested, otherwise you can keep pressing skip until you get to the end.

This offer took me just over a minute to complete and I was credited $0.50 to my account. This may not seem like much, but it adds up extremely fast. Once completed, the offer will move into a ‘Pending Offers’ category until CashCrate receives credit for it.

Completing Trial Offers with CashCrate

Another type of offers are trial offers. Most of these are also initially free. All of the trial offers require credit card information to verify the account and for after the free trial is done. I suggest only signing up for the free trails if you are truly interested in the product or service because if you do not cancel within the trial period you will then be charged for normal member price.

I have good luck with these by putting a reminder in my phone the day before the trial is up to decide whether or not I would like to keep the product or service. An example of this is ‘Google Home Business’. I had to pay $2.95 for the service but was then credited $15.00 to my CashCrate account.” . . . continued on next page

Earning Referrals with CashCrate

“The final way to make money is through referrals. This may take a while to get your referral numbers up there but once you do it is the way to make the most money. CashCrate gives you 20% of whatever people that you refer make, plus 10% of whatever people that they refer make. As you can see, if you have a lot of referrals this money can add up very quickly.

Final Thoughts on CashCrate

I recommend CashCrate for anyone that wants an easy way to make some extra money. If you are still skeptical, you can sign up and message me with any questions you may have. I would be glad to help out as would the wonderful CashCrate community readily available through the CashCrate.com Forum.”

13. Freebie Trading - Freebie trading is a real money maker. But it takes a special person to master the techniques and be consistent with the process.

14. Freelance Writer - There's good money and good exposure to be had by offering up your freelance writing services. Someone that knows a lot about this service is my friend, Baker from Man Vs. Debt. Check out what he has to say:

“The more and more digital our world becomes the easier it is to start freelance writing online. Freelance writing can be a great opportunity to get started in the blogging world, make a little side cash, and hone your professional writing and editing skills. If you think you'd like to try your hand at writing either part or full-time, the only question left is... where to start? Finding opportunities is actually the easy part. Finding the right opportunity is a bit harder. Assignments can vary drastically in length requirements, topics, and pay rates. Like any job it's best to search around a little to get a feel for the market in the given topics you'd like to write about. For starters, you can search some of the most popular job posting sites for online writers: •Problogger Job Board •FreelanceSwitch Job Boards •Elance.com

Another tip is to simply approach the blogs and sites you are already a fan of. First off, you'll do better and last longer writing about a topic that you enjoy and/or are passionate about. Second, if you are an active member of the community, the blogger or editor of the site might recognize your name, which could open doors. If you aren't already an active member, become more involved in your favorite site. Join the forums, comment on your favorite posts, or reach out to bloggers on Twitter. I've used networking to open doors to opportunities to blog at huge personal finance sites like GetRichSlowly.org and WiseBread.com. Through these two sites alone, my writing is viewed over a million times a month. It also helped me gain exposure for my own site, Man Vs. Debt. In addition to being paid to write my contributions, the larger audience and traffic from the exposure will lead to many more income opportunities, media mentions, and more prestigious writing opportunities down the road.

Starting to do freelance writing was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. I love it, am building great connections, and making a little cash to boot!”

15. Sell Digital Photos - Take nice pictures. Get them up on the web at a broker or micro stock website. Make some money. It’s not as easy as that, but those are the basics. Selling real estate photos is also a good idea. Here's my friend FFB from Free From Broke with more:

“We recently closed on the sale of our home. Selling a home is a tricky process. So many factors go into presenting your home to prospective buyers: Price, listings, open houses, dressing your home, getting the best real estate brokers, where the market is...I can go on! One aspect you can control is how your place is presented to buyers. One thing we noticed is many people don't have good pictures of their homes online in their listings. I'm talking bad picture angles, terrible lighting, pictures of clutter, old dates showing on the pictures, blurry shots, you name it. And why? Many don't understand the importance of dressing their home for sale and putting their best image out there to attract buyers.

Enter taking real estate photos!

If you have a good eye with a camera and understand what makes a good home-selling photo you can sell your services to people and real estate brokers selling homes. What equipment is necessary? If you already own a DSLR camera and a good lens then you prob-ably have most of what you need.

Let me tell you our situation. We hired a real estate broker to sell our home. They said they needed some pictures to put on the multiple listings site for people to see. Their plan was to stop by one day and take some photos. I was a little suspicious of the photos they were going to take. I already had my own DSLR and had an idea of what might work. I told them to stop by to hear out their ideas and see what they would do. Lo and behold, they come by with a dinky little point and shoot camera and they planned to snap a few quick shots and upload them. Not for us! I said I would take the pictures. With them watching I went room to room taking various photos with my camera.” . . . continued on next page

. . . Sell Digital Photos continued

“Now if you are a really good photographer then maybe a point and shoot camera would do but let me tell you my photos were exponentially better then what the real-tors started to use. And did our listing look good! Compared to other homes like ours our place looks incredible. And I'm no pro photographer! I just had a good camera and had an idea of how to make our place look good. This easily helped to get people to come see our place. We were told time and again how clean our home looked and that was reflected in the photos.

What is a service like this worth? What could you charge to help people get their home sold? Maybe $25 for a set of pictures on a disk? Perhaps $50? If it helps sell a home isn't that amount more than worth it? In all it took maybe an hour to take my photos and put them on a disk to give to the realtors to upload.

Here's how you could find customers for your service - Look online for some listings that look like they could have better photos. Contact the realtors and propose taking new photos for their listing. Sell them on the fact that a bad photo can make a person move on to the next listing. For the first time you could even offer your service for free. If it works there's a good chance they will come back for the next listing they have. This time you can charge them a reasonable fee for their time. Get the word out to other realtors and speak with friends and family who may be putting their homes on the market. You can quickly build up a nice word-of-mouth customer base!”

Things to do for better photos:1. Look online and see what already works out there and what doesn't. Really, you will be amazed at the bad pictures that are out there. Figure out how you could improve these photos.

2. Clutter. Get rid of as much clutter as possible! Even if it's only for the photo make your pictures show the home and not the personal items the owners have accumulated.

3. Get the best light you can. When I took my photos I timed it for the afternoon when the sun would be coming through the windows, lighting up the rooms. People love clean, airy rooms with natural light coming through!

4. Watch TV. There are so many home improvement and home selling shows out there. See what works. Also check out magazines as well. Notice how it's the house that is put forward and not the people who own the home. When a person comes to look at a home they want to imagine themselves living in it rather then see the owners living in it. That means no per-sonal effects like family photos.

5. Format. Make sure your photos will be in the best format for the listing site. Some sites cut off certain sizes or can only hold a certain amount of memory. You want your photos to upload easily and fit the parameters of the site.

You need a good camera for this. That can be a huge expense. I don't suggest you go out and buy an expensive DSLR and start up a photo business. But if you already own one and you have a good eye then I think you can make some relatively easy money taking real estate photos!

16. Sell Yourself Online - Get creative and sell you and your time online in a fresh, new way. Check out this creative idea by Jason from I Wear Your T-Shirt.

17. Sell Micro Ad Space Online - Start a website and sell tiny ads just like The Million Dollar Home Page. Can this be duplicated? Or can you take the con-cept and make it fresh?

18. Start an Online Store - Setting up an online store is extremely easy with sites like Amazon, EBay, and CafePress. Once you learn how to market that site you can begin making some cash.

19. Focus Group Participant - Researchers need people to help them develop their results. Become a member of a focus group in your area and get your share of their research funding. Call your local university, museum, or look in your local paper for opportunities.

20. Sell Bottled Water - Buy bottled water in bulk and sell it for a dollar where there are a ton of people: parks, festivals, concerts, etc.

21. Sell Your Body - Not talking about the oldest profession here. I’m talking about your plasma, hair, eggs, and sperm.

22. Have a Car Wash - Find a business that’s willing to loan you their parking lot and gather up a few friends to wash some cars. Take donations or ask for very little. People usually do this to raise fund for an organization, but there’s no reason you couldn’t do it for the You Foundation.

“Call your local university, museum, or look in your local paper for opportunities.”

23. Cleaning Houses - This is a job with flexible hours, but requires a bit of elbow grease. Some homes would provide their own cleaning supplies and tools. Here's more from FFB who blogs at Free From Broke:

“How many of you enjoy cleaning your house? I mean really love scrubbing all the dirt and grime that accumulates in places like the bathroom? I know I don't but it's something that needs to be done! But these days it's hard to find the time to really do a super thorough job cleaning the house. What's a person to do? Hire someone! Do you know there are companies and people out there that make some pretty good money offering their cleaning services to households and companies? They'll come in and charge you either a set fee per room or an hourly fee to clean up. They can come weekly, monthly, or whenever you think you need some extra scrub-bing.

What's the point? Why not have the person they hire be you? You can easily build up a small little business for yourself with little start-up costs. For most household jobs you will probably need cleaning supplies which you can pick up in bulk some-where such as BJ's Wholesale or Target. Some households may even provide the cleaning materials for you.

This isn't a passive income job where you sit at home while you make money. That's a given. This will take some elbow grease on your part. But you get paid for that elbow grease and you can easily make more than $100 per job depending on the type of work you do. Think about it, one job for a couple of hours or so a weekend can net you $400 more a month.” . . . continued on next page

. . . Cleaning Houses continued

“Start off small by doing some friend's places. If you do well then there's a good chance they will hire you again and tell their friends about it. I have a friend who started out working for a cleaning company and now does her own cleaning jobs. She worked on another friend's place and he was so impressed that he hired her to take care of his mother's place a few times a month. See, this is the type of job you can easily build up through word of mouth and networking from friends, family, and organizations you may be part of.

Now imagine this: You build up a good number of jobs to do a month. In fact it's getting tough to keep up with all of them. What's the next step? Hire someone to help you! Now you are taking something that earned you some extra money and you are turning it into a small business. The sky is the limit as to how far you can take it. Have a friend that lives in an apartment building? Maybe you can talk to the build-ing's management and do their vacuuming?

Again, this is work. You'll be scrubbing grimy bathroom tiles and cleaning behind people's toilets. But you can also make good money doing this. These days people have less time to take care of their homes which leaves you an opportunity to make some extra money!”

27. Drive People to the Airport - Another good gig for someone with a reliable car and the ability to be on-time all the time. Once you have a few happy clients and word gets out, you’ll find you have to turn business away. Check with your local laws regarding doing this.

28. Lawn Care - I grew up doing this job on the side and loved it. But it’s not just a teenager gig. This one is obviously better for warmer climates. Jason, from One Money Design is back with some more advice about this idea:

“Another great way to help your local community, connect with others and make some extra money is by starting a yard mowing business. Did you know that many neighbors are now paying $30 (more or less) for lawn care service per week? For various reasons, people are just too busy to take care of their lawns and if you have the right equipment you can make some money. Consider this approach:

1. Create some flyers that say you’re planning to start a neighborhood lawn mowing business and that you’ll perform the basic lawn care neighbors may be used to getting through a service for a ½ or ¾ of the price.

2. Announce you will offer one free mowing per month to the lucky winner of a drawing as a contribution to your customers and neighborhood.

How much extra money could this amount to for you? Well, 3 lawns each week at ½ the price of a $30 lawn mowing service would be $15 per lawn or $45 total per week. That amounts to an extra $165 per month (minus the free mowing). Your money making possibility increases based on the number of lawns you want to mow each week and also how much you charge. For someone who is serious about getting out of debt, mowing one lawn per day may just give you the extra boost on your debt snow ball that you need.”

If you know sports or entertainment enough to pick the right events, and have access to purchase the tickets at face or below, then you can use a service like Stubhub.com or Craigslist.org to re-sell the tickets for a profit. I’ve done this both out of necessity and just to make some extra money.

31. Paper Route - This job will likely take up only your early morning hours. You can also search for a paper that only comes out once a week.

32. Walk Dogs - If you love animals and live in an urban area then consider this job.

33. Pet Sitting - Take dog walking a step further and actually be paid to watch some one's pet for a few hours or days. This may just entail checking in on the pet a few times a day.

34. Baby Sitting - If you enjoy kids and are good with them, this can be a fun and easy way to make a little cash.

35. Tutor - Have a knack for a certain subject and live near a college? Consider offering up your brain power and teaching skills for some quick cash. Grade school kids need help too, and parents pay better than college students.

36. Play Music in Church or at Weddings - Some churches don’t have volunteers for their music. A talented pianist can make pretty good money doing this on the weekends.

37. Teach English to Adults - Go through your local schools and colleges to find classes where teachers of English are needed.

38. Sign in the Yard - In our local neighborhood we’ve seen this service hired out to place signs in people’s yards for birth and graduation announcements or for just a prank.

39. Stage Homes - People are having trouble selling their homes these days and could use a second pair of eyes to stage their home for the quick sale. If you’ve got the designing skills, offer up your services.

40. Sell Stuff on Craigslist.org - Craigslist.org is the first place I go to sell something. It’s best for items you think will appeal to everyone (therefore justifying the smaller audience) and large items that can’t be shipped. Thanks to my boy J. Money from Budgets are Sexy for this idea. Here's more: “Selling things on Craigslist.org is like crack (not that I'd know what that's like). You unload a whole bunch of stuff you could care less about, and in return get cold hard cash! And if you're real good, usually within 24 hours. I've sold cars, beds, jackets, and even random art I've found on the street. The trick is spending a few minutes and getting a formula down. In fact, it's a lot like blogging: You have to come up with a killer headline! One that's packed with both umph! and a lot of searchable keywords. If you're selling a bike, for example, don't just put up, ‘Bike for sale’. Try: ‘Mongoose Maxim 24 Men’s Bike for Sale! Green, Awesome, and Barely Used.’ Just enough details to get someone excited, but also friendly to the searches. And, naturally, killer content. Put all the biggies in the first couple of sentences, and then add another paragraph or two to show WHY it's such a great bike, and why you're getting rid of it. Is it because you're moving? Won it as a prize? Let people know you're human and you can be trusted. Throw up as many details as you can - even if it makes it look long. By adding in measurements and characteristics (which you can often find on google) you've now opened it up to those who might not have originally wanted it. And if the item is broken/scratched/worn out? That's fine too - just be 100% upfront and honest. You'll be amazed at the things people will buy off you.” . . . continued on next page

“Add in pictures (max out the #)! People want to see pictures!!! We want to see what it looks like at all angles, good & bad. We want to get a feel for what shape it's in and how pretty it is or isn't. Even if it's all dingy and dirty - highlight it! Humor and hon-esty can go a long way here (‘The dirtiest bike you've ever seen! It could be all yours for just $___!’). It may sound counterproductive, but again it's all about honesty and not wasting any one's time. If it's jacked up, they'll find out sooner or later believe me. Price, Price, Price - The same as location, location, location - it matters. List how much you paid for it, but DON'T try and sell it for that! You're not tricking anyone, price it for what you think is fair and they will come. Search around for similar list-ings and then go off those. You're bound to sell stuff 10x faster by following these rules. And if you REALLY want to impress your buyers, copy & paste the questions you're asked right back into the post! It may take a few more minutes, but it only helps your cause that much more. And by ‘cause’, I mean ‘more money in your pocket!’”

43. Earn Cash Back for Shopping Online - If you're already spending the money online, you should at least get something back for it. My friend, Madison from My Dollar Plan explains the details behind Ebates: “If you are like me, you shop online for convenience and the best prices. If you are going to be making a purchase online, you might as well get some money back for your purchase! Ebates gives you cash back on your online purchases at over 900 stores. We’ve used it in the past for purchases from Target, Buy.com, and Zappos. The cash back rewards range from 1% to 25% depending on the store. How Ebates WorksYou get a $5 bonus when you sign up and make your first purchase. It's that easy! Just sign into your Ebates account and select the store you want to shop at. Ebates will track your purchase and credit you cash back on your purchase. Ebates sends rewards via check or PayPal quarterly. They send payments on August 15th, November 15th, February 15th, and May 15th. You’ll get a payment every time you earn over $5 in rewards (excluding sign up and referral bonuses.) Earn More Ebates MoneyYou can make even more money by referring a friend to Ebates. You’ll each get an extra $5 after their first purchase. Check out the Daily Double each day. Ebates selects one store each day and gives double cash back for purchases between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM PST that day. It's an easy way to earn more cash back. When I took a poll of readers' favorite cash back programs, Ebates was the most popular one. It's easy to use and has great cash back percentages, making it the best cash back program out there.”

44. EBay Arbitrage - Find items that you know are selling below their full value (either online or through a deal website like Slickdeals.net) buy them and sell them on EBay for more. Once you find your product niche you can set up a system.

45. Re-sell Computers - This is slightly different than EBay Arbitrage. Find a distributor that will sell to you at their discounted prices. List these items online. Buy and ship to your hearts content. Basically, you become a reseller. Jeremy from Shoemoney.com did this for his first successful business venture.

46. Look for Odd Jobs on Craigslist.org - People in your town need your help and they will pay you for it. Seriously. The jobs are there on Craigslist.org. A good job that you could perform for your neighbors would be changing oil. Jason from One Money Design shares his thoughts on this potential money maker:

“Most people don’t change the oil in their own cars these days because they either don’t have the time or don’t have the skills. There are plenty of quick oil change services around that charge in advance of $30 and that’s where most people in your neighborhood go each month.

You may not be a mechanic, but do you know how to change the oil in a variety of different types of automobiles? Perhaps you’ve always changed the oil for your own automobile. If so, there may be a great opportunity to save your neighbors money and make yourself some extra money.

As you marketed mowing yards, the same business model could be applied to changing the oil for peoples’ cars. Personally, I’m not handy when it comes to auto maintenance, so I do end up paying a mechanic much of the time to change my oil. I would definitely sign up if my qualified neighbor would come to my house and change my oil for half the price, or even ¾ of the price while also saving me a trip to the quick service!”

47. Have a Garage Sale - The stuff you can’t sell online, you could sell from your garage on the weekends. My friend, the Studenomist from Studenomics, offers up some tips for making the most of your garage sale:

“We all appreciate earning some extra money. Many of us (but not all) look forward to getting rid of junk from around the house. As a result, holding a garage sale to earn some extra money becomes a perfect option. If you're not convinced on this idea yet then allow me to share some benefits of holding a garage sale:

• Money to put towards your debt reduction. If you are at the point where you're aggressively paying off your debt then this is a great source of additional funds. Any extra money you can put towards your debt will help you out greatly in the long run.

• Meet the people in your neighborhood. These days with the internet and HDTV it's very rare that we actually talk to our neighbors let alone the people that live in our neighborhood. Throw a garage sale, sell your junk, and meet your neighbors for once and for all.

• Get rid of the clutter in your home. Maybe you will finally realize that the ‘storage room’ in the basement could make a pretty decent billiards room or an extra bed room.”

. . . Have a Garage Sale continued

“Alright so I brought up this great idea of holding a garage sale and gave you guys the benefits, so now it would only make sense if I gave you some tactical tips for setting up this garage sale to be successful:

1. Advertise for free. The obvious thing to note about a garage sale is that you shouldn't expect to make a fortune. With that being said you shouldn't spend any money on advertising. Aside from word of mouth marketing, I highly advise that you take advantage of all of the posting boards in your community. You may not check them frequently but I can assure you that the senior citizens do. You should also engage in the oldest form of garage sale advertising- putting up signs all around your community. You need to make sure you use attractive colors and that you stress what kind of items you will be selling. We had some good luck with attendance one rainy Saturday morning because we stressed the fact that we had quality clothing and bicycles for sale.

2. Advertise ahead of time. Most yard sales are typically held on a Saturday morning so you should strive to have all of your posters/ads up by Monday afternoon. If you place your posters in highly visible places (under a stop sign) then people will be reminded of your garage sale every single day of the week.

3. Get your neighbors involved. Whenever people see any variation of the term ‘street sale’ they get really excited. Some people are very skeptical of holding a garage sale, so a street sale is the likely the encouragement that they need to join in.

When looking at money saving techniques it's crucial that we remember to not use this money to purchase more junk. At the end of the day you spend a Saturday morning meeting your neighbors, getting rid of your old junk, and making a couple of dollars. When will you hold your garage sale?”

48. Put Stuff on Consignment - This is great for clothes and other items that aren’t easily sold online. I did this just the other day and received a quick $10.

49. Bank Account Opening Bonuses - Many bank accounts will give you a cash bonus to open an account with them. I’d start with a bank that will pay you higher interest. See this list of the Top High-Yield Savings Accounts. There's usually a bonus to be had there. An alternative to high-interest banks, is a service like LendingClub. They are a social lending network that allows you to loan your money for a great return. Average returns are around 9.5%. Just like banks, they have bonuses to get started. Get a $25 bonus to get started investing with LendingClub.

50. Credit Card Bonuses - Like the bank accounts, there are many credit cards that will give you bonus cash for opening an account, without having to spend a dime.

51. Rent Out A Room - If you have an extra room in your house, consider renting it out to a friend, relative, or random person you find using what else, Craigslist.org.

52. Paint Street Numbers - With just a few paint and stencil supplies you could walk the neighborhoods with curbs and solicit your curb number painting services.

1. Create Content on Hubpages - I've never heard of this method, but my friend Bob from Christian Personal Finance has. Here's the breakdown on how you can make money here:

“What is Hubpages? Before I start getting into detail, I should explain the basics. Hubpages is a website that basically allows you to publish an article on their site. I use the term ‘article’ loosely because it can be as short as an article or more like a single page website. It is completely up to the user. A hub (their lingo for article) can be about any topic you could possibly want to write about. You could create a hub explaining 10 things you wished people knew about you, how to play guitar with your toes, or facts about albino grizzly bears.

You do not need to be a great writer and honestly, I have seen some people who are terrible writers do quite well. All you need is the ability to say a little bit about some-thing.

So how do you make money with Hubpages? There are actually a variety of ways, but the simplest and most effective way I have found so far has been by using Adsense. After you finish your first hub you can install your Adsense ID and you will begin sharing the revenue with Hubpages for your hubs.

If you pick good keywords (which I will get to in a minute) you will likely begin get-ting traffic from the search engines within 24 hours of publishing it. If these visitors click on the ads you will get a cut of that revenue (I think it is 60%).” . . . continued on next page

. . . Create Content on Hubpages continued

My results during July“I spent most of July trying to create a hub every day or so and I am now up to 23 hubs. I didn't do the best job with keyword research and did very little if any work after creating the hubs and yet I still made $47.14 in July.

This breaks down to $2.05 per hub/month. Two dollars doesn't sound too exciting, but if you consider that is probably completely passive income it is pretty exciting. In theory, that $2 per hub should continue paying that each month - and to be honest most pages do better in the search engines after they have been around a few months or more. So it very well could increase over time as well.

I am going to continue to create some more hubs during the month of August and see what the results are. I will try to keep this post updated with the new results each month.

If you are interested in giving this a shot, these are the steps to get started:• Sign up at Hubpages• Create your first hub. Once you get to the design page, it is pretty self-explanatory.• Sign up for an Adsense account (if you don't have one). This might take a couple days to get approval.• Add your Adsense ID to Hubpages. When you are logged into Hubpages, you click the "My Account" button, and then the "Affiliate Settings" link. This is where you will install your Adsense ID.• That's it. Once it is installed, you will begin making money when someone clicks on the ads. Warning: do not click the ads yourself or tell others to click them. Google will catch you and will ban you from the program.” . . . continued on next page

. . . Create Content on Hubpages continued

Keys to succeeding “Keyword research - This is probably the most important part. The title of your hub needs to be based on your keyword research. A good place to look is Google's Keyword Research Tool - drop in some keywords that your article might be about and see what comes back at you. I believe this is more of an art than a science, so just find a keyword phrase that is being searched for and give it a shot. But I do suggest looking for longer phrases, i.e. Don't title your page ‘ipods’ but something like ‘how to put music on your ipod’ would likely work a lot better. But either way, you just have to test to see what works. Sometimes your research will work just like planned and other times it won't. But the good news is that even if you don't do any research, you still have a chance of picking up some visitors on Hubpages. But, the more you plan out your keywords the better you will do. Get Links - Like I mentioned above, I didn't really get many links to my hubs, but if you can link to it from your blogs and get other links it will definitely be helpful. Submitting it to social bookmarking sites might be helpful as well. Linking your hubs to each other is a good idea too. Content - Generally speaking the more content you put on your hub the better. I would say 400 words should be a minimum. Shooting for 600-1000 would probably be best. And add as many of the widgets as you can. You can add a news widget, a poll to ask your readers a question, etc. You don't necessarily NEED to add a bunch of widgets, but it will probably help. Learn and Adapt - Not all hubs will work. In fact, for me of the 23 I have created thus far 5 of them are generating about 90% of the traffic.

Final Thoughts All in all, while writing for Hubpages won't be for everyone, it can be a great way to start generating a small amount of passive income in your spare time. As someone who is now making a living from my blog, I can attest that creating content-generated income can take a while; it beats working in a corporate office any day!”

2. Search the Internet Using SwagBucks - Money just for doing what you already do: surfing the world wide webs. This is another idea where I'm not up to speed. But my friend Madison, from My Dollar Plan, explains the details about SwagBucks: “Did you know you can make money just by searching the internet? I search all the time, so I found this method to be a pretty easy way to earn money without spending any time or doing anything differently. All you have to do is sign up for a SwagBucks account. Once you sign up, you earn SwagBucks using their search tool. The search tool compiles results from Google and Ask.com, so I usually find what I’m looking for, just as if I were using Google. I have found that the SwagBucks search tool is easy to use. To save time, you can also download the Firefox plugin to make it your default search engine on the toolbar. How to Redeem Your SwagBucks The SwagBucks are “digital dollars”. You can redeem them for gift cards. Amazon and Target gift cards are two of the choices, which are almost equivalent to cash at my house, so that’s what I redeem mine for. We've earned a ton of Amazon gift cards, which we'll use during the holiday season to buy presents. In addition to the gift cards, they also have electronics, airline miles, and a slew of other things.”
