the most important one. According to many studies, a good breakfast helps children do
better at school. Eggs are
a popular breakfast food in many countries because they give us energy. But every country
has got its own traditional breakfast.
In Russia, there are often eggs for breakfast, but sandwiches, pancakes and kasha (a type of
cereal) are popular too. Russians usually have tea or coffee with breakfast. Eggs are popular
for breakfast in England too. A “traditional” English breakfast has got eggs with sausages,
beans, tomatoes and potatoes. These days, however, people sometimes have a small
breakfast of orange juice, cereal, bread and tea or coffee.
Breakfast in the USA is often different at the weekend. During the week, many people
haven’t got time for
a big breakfast, so they eat cereal with milk or yoghurt. At the weekend, their breakfast
includes eggs, bread, potatoes, sausages, fruit, pancakes and sometimes steak!
Eggs, bread and coffee aren’t popular in China. In many parts of China, people eat rice at
every meal, including breakfast. There is also bing, a type of pancake, and there’s tang, a
type of soup. They’ve got

From: Laura To: Sue
Hi Sue
We’re having an amazing time in sunny California! It never rains here. In the
summer it’s hot and sunny every day. Yesterday we went to the beach. We
swam in the sea in the morning and then, in the afternoon, it was really windy
so we went windsurfing.
Tomorrow, we’re going to Yosemite National Park. We’re going to stay in a
tent. I love camping, especially when it isn’t raining. We’re going to go
walking, cycling and rock climbing.
There are lots of waterfalls in Yosemite and I can’t wait to see Yosemite Falls.
They are 739 metres high. We’re also going to see the giant sequoia trees. One
of the trees, the Grizzly Giant, is 64 metres high and between two and three
thousand years old.
Did you know there are bears in Yosemite? They are always hungry so you
mustn’t leave any food in your tent or car. You don’t want a visit from a
dangerous bear in the night!
Hope you’re having a good summer.
Love, Laura
