10.3 How to add volume to hair
Instructions
We’re going to show you how to blow dry hair to add volume.
The tools you need:
• A professional hair dryer with high and lowspeed functions and with a nozzle
• Two medium sized roundbrushes
• Velcro rollers, large size
• Clips
Padle Brush
The products you need:
• Volumnising Spray
• Hairspray
• Instructions
• Wash, condition and towel dry the hair.
• Spray a volumnising tonic on the roots and separate the hair into sections. This will help create
volume. It makes it easier to apply when you work in sections.
• Take your hairdryer and attach a nozzle. Set it to high speed and high heat.
• Next, roughly dry the hair from the roots to the ends to remove excess moisture and reduce
drying time. A good trick is to to hold the head upside down. This helps increase volume too.
4
• Section the hair so you can sart drying from the neck area.
• Use a round brush. You can use a natural brittle brush or a ceramic coated brush, it‘s up to you,
and dry from the roots to the ends, pulling quite tightly, until the hair is completely dry. Leave
the first brush in the hair. Take your second brush, start with next section and do as before.
Leave the brush in the hair. Remove the first brush carefully and use this brush for the next
section. This technique gives a nice bounce and makes the hair look smooth and shiny.
• Continue in small sections all around the head.
• For your final step, take a length of hair, about the width of the rollers you’ll be using, and roll
the roller from the tips to the roots, pressing the hair firmly and smoothly onto the roller. Sit the
roller firmly at the scalp. Remember if you have a fringe it there’s not need to roll it.
• When you have all the rollers in place, spray hairspray all over the rollers to keep the shape
you’re creating.
• Take your hairdryer again and set it to high heat and low speed. Heat each roller and then allow
them to cool down.
• Now, remove the rollers.
• Brush out the hair with a paddle brush. You’re almost finished.
• For the final touch, use some more hairspray for a flexible hold. Retouch the hair into the correct
position. That’s it!
• An additional styling option:
• If you‘d like to add more volume to the hair, use the back-combing technique.
• We‘ll show you how.
• Take a section at the back of the head, hold the hair with the fingers on the ends and work with
a comb to the roots. This creates extra volume. Spray over.
• Take a brush to shape the hair, just brushing the very top of the hair to make it look smooth.
• Finish the overall shape of the hair with the point of the comb.
5
• If you like you can take the side back with a side parting to give a 60s like look.
• Spray over

10.7 How to use a diffusor to enhance curls in wavy or curly hair
Instructions
The tools you’ll need:
• Wide toothed comb
• Hair dryer
• Diffusor attachment
Products:
• Curl enhancing creme
• Pump of medium hold hairspray
• Volume Spray
• Foam
In this video we want to show you how to heighten the natural curl in hair
Instructions
Start working.
On well combed damp hair, part the hair in two sections, front and back.
Next, apply the curl enhancing creme
Apply a larger amount on the back section because hair is normally thicker there and a smaller amount
on the front section because there we have less hair.
Massage the product into the hair evenly, from roots to the ends. Comb it with your fingers.
Apply volumnising spray onto the roots and apply through with your fingers.
We put the diffusor attachment on the hairdryer and set it to high heat and low speed.
Then we ask the client to turn her head upside down.
9
Slightly bunch the hair onto the diffusor attachment, starting from the ends and working towards the
scalp.
Do this from different angles around the head.
When the hair is 75% dry we need to sit up again.
Continue bunching the hair onto the diffusor, then scrunch it and let it cool down in your hands. Repeat
this all around. For this work you need to get a feeling for the hair and learn not to over dry it.
Now we’ve created the curls and we‘re ready to finish.
Use a medium hold pump hair spray and spray evenly to give good hold and shine.
Ready!

10.9 Hair straightening
Instructions
What you need to straighten hair:
Tools:
• A hair straightener with ceramic coating
• A natural comb with wide teeth
• A big comb
• A brush with natural bristles
• Clips
Products
• Heat protection spray
• Shine spray or liquid
Does your client have naturally wavy or curly hair?
Does she like to wear it straight and smooth?
We‘ll show you how to do this.
• We start working on the dry hair by brushing it with a brush that has natural bristles. Brush
evenly from the roots to the ends.We want to remove remnants of hairspray or gel and also
smooth out knots. The natural bristles are soft for the hair and scalp and add a really a nice shine.
Plastic brushes damage the hair and add static.
• Now we part the hair into four sections. Here is an example of one section.
• This is how it would look after all four sections have been completed
• Switch on the ceramic straightener and set the temperature to not more than 180 °
• We start at the temples by taking a section of about 5cm.
11
• Spray the heat protection on from roots to ends
• Comb the hair
• Take the ceramic straightener and clamp on the hair, moving from roots to ends, following the
comb. Do these two to three times to make sure the hair is really dry. Otherwise it won’t hold
for a long time. If you notice steam while you’re doing this, that’s from the product you sprayed
on.
• For the very fine hair at the front, take a vertical section and work it in direction of the face by
turning it under a little.
• Continue to do the same, section by section, around the whole of the head.
• Now, we ‘re almost finished. To add even more shine, spray a shine spray over the head or use
hair oil or liquid - just a few drops in the palm of your hand is enough - and stroke over the hair.
