iDriver offers three methods of operation

To meet your organization’s document application needs, iDriver offers the following operation modes:

Manual Operation Users select their AS/400 spool file (print output file), choose the desired finishing/output/formatting options, and send the print jobs to the e-studio device.

Automatic Operation This method utilizes an automated server to capture spool files with user-defined attributes and applies user-predefined finishing/formatting options to the spooled files that meet the specific criteria.

Immediate Operation A programmer can embed a call to the iDriver application programming interface (API) program that adds the finishing options to the spooled file without user intervention. This method eliminates the automated server that would normally run in the background.

Customize your output in a menu-based environment

With iDriver, your organization can leverage the full functionality of e-studio devices, with laser printing capability and finishing options combined with report formatting, font selection, and data remapping tools. This allows AS/400 forms and reports to be customized in a variety of ways in a familiar, menu-based environment and with no reprogramming required. Users can easily format and output AS/400 forms and reports by selecting portions of their spooled file, assigning multiple font selections, and then remapping their print output to desired locations on a page.

Because iDriver is native to the AS/400, data does not need to be downloaded or exported to external print servers—which speeds up the print process and allows print managers to maintain control of data. And for added convenience, iDriver is easily downloaded and upgraded via the Internet.
