The EPCs are non-profit organizations Registered under the Indian Companies Act or the Societies

Registration Act These Councils are also the registering authorities under the Export

Import Policy,1997-2002 They are supported by financial assistance from the Government of

India. These Councils have been assigned the role and functions under the

said Policy. The Export Promotion Councils perform both advisory and executive

functions Each council is responsible for the promotion of a particular group of

products, projects and services

To project India's image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality goods and services.

EPCs encourage and monitor the observance of international standards and specifications by exporters.

The EPCs keep abreast of the trends and opportunities in international markets for goods and services and assist their members in taking advantage of such opportunities in order to expand and diversify exports

To organize participation in trade fairs, exhibitions and buyer-seller meets in India and abroad

To provide commercially useful information and assistance to their members in developing and increasing their exports

To offer professional advice to their members in areas such as technology upgradation, quality and design improvement, standards and specifications, product development and innovation etc.

To organize visits of delegations of its members abroad to explore overseas market opportunities.

To promote interaction between the exporting community and the Government both at the Central and State levels

To build a statistical base and provide data on the exports and imports of the country, exports and imports of their members, as well as other relevant international trade data

Registration of exporters and issue of Registration-cum-Membership certificate (RCMC) under the EXIM Policy

Collection and dissemination of information primarily on export opportunities, through various media including newsletters, bulletins, letters, telex, fax, etc.

Fixation of floor price or minimum export price or recommendation thereof to the government.

Any person, applying for the following is required to furnish RCMC issued by the competent authority:

1. A license/certificate/permission to import/export,

2. Any other benefit or concession under Foreign Trade Policy.

Procedure for the Issue of RCMC

An applicant for registration may be made to the concerned registering authority in the form given in the prescribed Aayaat and Niryaat form along with a self certified copy of the IEC number issued by the licensing authority concerned and bank certificate in support of the applicant’s Financial soundness.

If the application for registration is granted, the concerned registering authority issues the RCMC indicating the status of the applicant as Merchant Exporter or manufacturer Exporter.

In case an exporter desires to get registration as a manufacturer exporter, he is required to furnish evidence in that effect.

Validity of RCMC:The RCMC shall be deemed to be valid from 1st April of the licensing

year to in which it was issued and shall be valid for 5 years ending 31st march of the licensing year, unless otherwise specified.

Business Highlights

Achieved a turnover of Rs. 2008.51 crore during 2010-11

Gross profit of Rs.4791.98 lakhs (but due to huge interest liability on outstanding loans in Tie-up business, there is a net loss of Rs.108.52 crore.) The export of NAFED during the year were of the order

of Rs. 13.14 crore Continued to enjoy the status of "star Export House" as

per Certificate of recognition issued by Ministry of Commerce , Government of India.

HEPCs a statutory body constituted under The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to promote the exports of all handloom products like fabrics, home furnishings, carpets and floor coverings

HEPC was constituted in the year of 1965 with 65 members and its present membership is around 2000 spread all over the country.

The Handloom industry mainly exports fabrics, bed linen, table linen, toilet and kitchen linen, towels, curtains, cushions and pads, tapestries and upholstery's, carpets and floor coverings, etc.

The basic objective of HEPC is to provide all support and guidance to the Indian Handloom exporters and International buyers for trade promotion and International marketing.

HEPC has its head office at Chennai and regional offices at New Delhi.

EPCH was established under Companies Act in the year 1986 – 1987

Objective – promote, support, protect, maintain and increase export of handicrafts.
