Project experienceWith Independence Namibia embarked on the journey of a comprehensive education reform. This reform process is ongoing and is based on the 4 pillars of Access, Equity, Quality and Democracy. For a small country with limited fiscal income such a reform is daunting. Fortunately however many National and International partners have and still are supporting the Namibian Education Reform through numerous national and regional projects.

Our team has been directly involved in the successful implementation of different projects in support of the Education Reform. As facilitator our task always was ensuring project success and meeting the expectations of recipient and donor.

Girls Education project

A Commonwealth program that consisted of a modular, 18 month long training program for school principals. Following an official agreement with the Hon Minister of Education J Mutorwa in the year 2000, and with financial support from the HSF (Hanns Seidel Foundation) and NAMAS ( Namibian Association of Norway) this program reached 400 school principals.

Whole School Development Program

A pilot project in he Kavango Region with a special focus on school girls, organizing them in Girls Clubs and educating them and their peers in order to reduce gender based abuse towards school girls. (UNICEF

Project experienceTraditional Life Skills

Facilitating infrastructure development Nweze - The construction and furbishing of a Laboratory and Library (NAMAS +

Caprivi Regional Office) Affordable teacher housing construction – a pilot project to teach communities in

the construction of affordable teacher housing (NAMAS) Facilitating construction materials support from Kinderhilfe Namibia through the

HSF. This support was for school communities who initiated and drove the construction and improvement of their school facilities but had limited resources

Direct project management support in the construction of the Otjikondo School Village with funds from the German Government administered through the HSF

A program where community members got involved in the teaching of extracurricular traditional life skills. The program started in the Caprivi Region from where it was extended to the Karas Region and from there NAMAS funded the extension of the program across Namibia.

School Board training

Farm school teacher trainingA training and research project that reached 12 Farm schools in the Khomas and Hardap Region. The project focused on best practices in multi grade teaching through research and the exchange of best practice. (UNICEF)

Project identification and proposal for the construction and subsequent operation of a teacher resource center in support of the San Schools in the Tsumkwe constituency (NAMAS)

Project proposal for donor funding

The development of a training Manual for the training of School Boards. (Lux Development) followed by the training of trainers and school boards to ensure a nationwide program reach

A farm school project that focused on the integration and continued quality education of exile born Namibian children and children of farm workers (HSF)

Ondao mobile schoolThe 18 months of project management which included the delivery of staff development services for the tent school in the Kunene Region. (NAMAS )
