The game of golf is both a rewarding yet challenging experience. Designing a golf course inside an urban environment required extensive research and visitaons which led to a eld trip to iloxi Mississippi. Since golf courses are nown for predominantly at landscape the design strategy was to create a mountainous surface divergent of the citys grid. This provides the opportunity of integrang residenal and commercial spaces subsided beneath the extruded mounds of land. The housing units although subterranean contain openings onto the course to allow an interacon between the landscape and the home. /n the end an urban agenda is presented by having a community operate independently and peacefully from the adjacent golf course at above. play above.

A false posive in theory is a paradoxical argument that is seemingly proven as true. This concept was further explored through the various assignments that dealt with the manipulaon and transformaon of the simplest forms cube sphere etc. In the end an individual false posive was developed: geometry is an accessory. Aer tesng out a variety of paerning techniques on four primive forms the condion of a grid paern being mapped on a spherical form ulmately became the main study. A sequenal process was further invesgated which involved a gridded oolean form being projected in its axonometric view on an oval form. This desired paerning was then applied onto a larger scale: a guesthouse in a Chicago neighborhood. The use of color and hues was later introduced to evoke depth and show areas of high acvity through-out the house. One can now that a paern or an applique can be seen more that just a decorave element.

  • This studio focused on the idea of urbanism, and the citys connections from one spectacle to another. Having a great city as a background, the given assignment was to assess and redesign Navy Pier; one of the most visited destinations in Chicago. After site analysis and working in teams, a single urban agenda was to be developed by the students individually. Inspired by ocean liners, this project oers the similar ambience and density displayed on a nautical ship. The separation of this mega structure from the city provides the opportunity of creating an independent and self-reliant community. The structure divides itself between two distinct living sectors: home and everything else. This division ultimately preserves a quality of life within each sector, showing that neither culture should overlap. The Urbanic brings a new meaning on how to . cruise

Based on the studies of Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown in their book, Learning from Las Vegas, the studio speculated upon iconography, or the duck, in roadside architecture. The narrative of the project is derived from the BP Oil Spill in 2010, which left thousands in Louisiana left in a state of gloom. In order to apologize for this unfortunate mishap, the B.P. Aquarium Hotel introduces an exciting, yet serene oasis alongside the interstate. Its icon, a sh, can be visible from the distance by its concrete shell, appearing to be carved out in a giant box (or a present). This large opening gives people the chance to make a pit stop and travel through the dierent programs oered inside. Habitable glass bubbles allow visitors to experience panoramic views of the sh swimming around their hotel room or in the upper restaurant. The Be Positive Aquarium Hotel promises a relaxing for any exhausted traveler.
