Inform State of Georgia entities about the new SWC for Expedited Delivery Services with UPS

Scope: Shipping of standard/regular parcels/packages. Within the U.S. (Interstate and Intrastate) and International.

Unique shipments such as those designated by DOT as posing an “unreasonable threat to the public and environment” (e.g. shipment of hazardous or dangerous material, tissue shipments such as biological/medical samples and/or live cultures, cooler shipments that require dangerous goods, biohazardous material, tissue etc.) are not part of the current scope, however, UPS can offer these services as an “option” or “courtesy” service if requested by a State Entity.

Question AnswerWill the following services/shipments be covered under the contract and will they be considered as Mandatory Services?1) International Shipment2) Category A and B Biohazardous material shipment3) Shipping coolers that contain research samples, data etc.4) Dangerous goods shipment which may or may not include dry ice, and infectious material5) Dry Ice Shipment6) Shipping of animal tissue samples?

1) International Shipments - Mandatory Services covered under scope of contract2) Infectious substances classified as Category A and B are not part of the Mandatory Services, however, UPS can offer these services as an "option" or "courtesy" service if requested by a State Entity3) Cooler shipments are part of the mandatory contract unless the content includes dangerous goods, biohazardous/hazardous goods4) Dangerous goods shipment are not part of the Mandatory Contract5) Dry Ice Shipment is part of the Mandatory Contract unless content includes dangerous goods, biohazardous/hazardous goods6) Tissue Shipments that include biological/medical samples and/or l ive cultures are not part of the mandatory contract, however, UPS can provide this service as an "option" or "courtesy"

Are Live Animal Shipments part of the mandatory contract?

Live Animal Shipments are not part of the Mandatory Services covered under scope of contract. However, UPS, can offer these services as a "courtesy". Please note that UPS has a l ist of "Accepted Live Animals" and "Prohibited Live Animals".

Does UPS contain boxes to ship laptops?

UPS Express Boxes: Small, Medium & Large or UPS- 10Kgs, 25kg boxes may be utilized for shipping laptops. Include appropriate padding. To ship UPS Ground, you would need to provide your own boxes.

Is "freight" part of the mandatory UPS Contract? If so, what qualifies as "freight"? Would a package 25lbs and up in weight be considered freight?

a) Freight Shipment is not part of the mandatory contract. What we have on contract is Multi-Weight/Hundred Weight Pricing (>151+ lbs). Hundred weight shipment is shipment from same point of origin, going to the same destination. It does not require multiple handling, hence faster delivery therefore qualifying for Guaranteed Delivery. SWC includes a Zone Based Pricing Model with Multi-Weight/Hundred Weight Pricing (0.5 ounces to 150lbs, 151+ lbs Multi-weight)b) Freight Costs are a different price model. Freight includes either your LTL or FTL. LTL includes shipment weighing anywhere from 151 and 20,000 lbs. It requires consolidating shipment from various locations and multiple handling before final delivery and in most cases does not qualify for guaranteed delivery. Anything over 151+ lbs would be considered "freight" or what we have included on contract is "multi-weight/hundred weight" pricing.
