ALuMNI AND STuDENT VOICES

Thomas Lutz Manager of PR & Public Affairs at Microsoft Austria Major in New Media and Information ManagementMBA Graduate 2011

“The study field of new Media and Information Management was already near to my current profession and also what I wanted to develop and deepen

further in my future career. The international environment and English as the course language had a positive training effect not only for my current job but also for further international roles. I had a great teamwork and learning experience with other students of the new Media and Information Management module; we immediately built up learning groups and supported each other in a great way. My studies provided me with a better understanding of the various dependencies between technology and business, impacts and influences, and how to use them for better economic results. The program provided me with a solid academic foundation for many aspects of my current role, while being able to deepen and use the gained knowledge immediately towards practice. My perception was that the professional and maturity level of new Media students were particularly high and I enjoyed the exchange with a lot of bright people.’’

Nikola DuvnjakNational Project Officer at the Organization for cooperation and Securityin Europe (OScE), Mission to Serbia on the Social Inclusion ProjectsMajor in Public Governance and ManagementMBA Graduate 2011

“I enrolled in MODUL University in 2007, motivated by the innovative curriculum that focused on Public governance and Management. In particular, the ‘Leadership and Ethics’ module helped me to better initially accommodate new challenges that I faced in my position. It was very challenging to supervise and manage three inexperienced project assistants, but I was able to directly apply the new skills and knowledge from the Leadership module to my efforts. I consider myself very privileged to have had the opportunity to study at MODUL University with my colleagues, many of whom are experts in their fields, and under the guidance of an outstanding team of international professors. Today, I work on more demanding projects with extended focus on public administration reform. My MBA study added additional value to my work and equipped me with directly applicable knowledge and skills in this field.’’

Andreea Gatman Independent consultant, EU Projects, TrainerMajor in Public Governance and ManagementMBA Graduate 2010

“I was interested in MODUL University as not many education institutions offer an MBA program suited for public governance management, plus

the educational format allowed for having a job wherever you are located while pursuing the program. The multicultural perspective offered the possibility of learning from different perspectives, the entire experience was based on sharing valuable ideas and creating a network that ‘works’ after finishing the MBA program. The professors and lecturers opened up a new perspective for how I perceive business- in a more complex manner, as social business become my main interest after finishing the MBA. I have now started my own consultancy business and am also a certified trainer. The MBA in PgM was an innovative atmosphere- in the age of being more environmentally aware, it was nice to be part of a university that actually approaches green and sustainability in a serious manner. Open your mind and soul when starting this program, it is a 360 degrees experience!’’

Oksana SydorEvents, Exhibitions, and Meetings Manager at Dikart Event Management company, UkraineMajor in Tourism ManagementCurrent MBA student

“Working in such an ever-expanding sphere is always a challenge. That’s why I greatly benefited from the experience and contacts I obtained while studying at MODUL University, which have all been a considerable help to me in contributing to the further development of Ukrainian tourism. During my studies I met experts and practitioners who helped me to hone in on my specialisation, one of whom inspired me to organize an annual tourism conference in Lviv, ‘Win with the Lion!’ Studying at MODUL University and cooperating with the Vienna Tourism Board helped our city of Lviv enter the international network - European Cities Marketing (ECM). I was previously Head of the Tourism Office of Lviv, and at the moment I am working at an event management company, responsible for organizing events, meetings, and exhibition management. In the near future I am planning to set up my own professional conference organising company, building up a strong, young team ready for new challenges!’’

QUALITY OF LIFE: VIENNA RANKS #1 WORLDWIDE

For the third consecutive year, Vienna has been acclaimed as the best city in the world when it comes to quality of living. The capital of Austria has successfully maintained its top-ranking in the international Mercer study on the quality of living in cities.

The Mercer study takes into account 39 criteria, including the political, social and economic climate, as well as medical services, education, and infrastructure facilities, such as public transportation, power and water utilities. The cities were evaluated according to leisure facilities such as restaurants, theaters, cin emas, sports facilities, the availability of consumer goods ranging from food to automobiles, and environmental factors including green space and air quality.

According to the CEO of Mercer Austria, Vienna’s top performance in the overall ranking is primarily based on the high degree of safety and political stability the city offers, as well as on its optimal infrastructure.
