The name Andaman presumably comes from Handuman, which is Malay for the Hindu God Hanuman.

The name Nicobar is Malay for Land of the Naked (People).

The Andaman Islands are a group of islands in the Bay of Bengal, and are part of the Andaman and

Nicobar Islands (Union Territory of India). Port Blair is the chief community on the islands, and theadministrative centre of the Union Territory. The Andaman Islands form a single administrative district

within the Union Territory, the Andaman district (the Nicobar district was separated and established as

a new district in 1974).

Andaman and Nicobar Islands is now a relaxed tropical island outpost that belongs to India but is

geographically closer to Southeast Asia. Sun-kissed beaches lined with azure waters, incredible

corals and marine life, an intriguing colonial past and the remnants of a Stone Age culture lure

travellers to these mysterious islands, 1000 kilometres off the East Coast of India in the Bay of Bengal.

Day Wise Itinerary

DAY 1

ARRIVAL AT PORTBLAIRBY: FLIGHT

Board your flight for Port Blair.

On arrival, you will meet MakeMyTrip representative whowill transfer you to your hotel in Port Blair. Next, proceed forcheck in at your hotel.

PORT BLAIR: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands wereshrouded in mystery for centuries because of theirinaccessibility. Shimmering like emeralds in the Bay ofBengal, the islands are a paragon of beauty and present ascenic and picturesque landscape. The dense forests whichcover these islands and the innumerable exotic flowers andbirds create a highly poetic and romantic atmosphere.Imagine white beaches on the edge of a meanderingcoastline, palm trees swaying to the rhythm of the sea, andtechni-colour fishes swimming in crystal clear waters.

Post lunch (on your own), proceed to AnthropologicalMuseum (closed on Monday) and Fisheries Aquarium(closed on Wednesday). This place gives you a peek in tothe life of the Paleolithic Islanders. It also houses the models

of the aborigines and their tools. Next, visit Corbyn's CoveBeach a serene and unspoiled soft sandy beach set in thepicturesque background of lush green coconut palms andpleasant sea. Later, witness the Light & Sound show at theCellular Jail which depicts the saga of countless martyrs ofIndian independence struggle who laid down their lives. Theshow is conducted every evening in the premises of cellular

jail which gives us a brief idea about the different practicesadopted in the jail, prior to the independence.

Return to the hotel late in the evening. Spend a comfortableovernight stay at the hotel in Port Blair.

Note: In case Day 1 of the itinerary falls on a Monday, theMuseum visit will be done on Day 5.

Incase Light and Sound show at Cellular Jail is called-offdue to weather and maintenance conditions, efforts will bemade to arrange for alternate sightseeing and also toarrange for the show at some other time during the itineraryonly if time permits.

DAY 2

PORT BLAIR - HAVELOCK

BY: Ferry (2.5Hrs)

After breakfast, check out from the Hotel to

visit Ross Island [closed on Wednesday].

Later, board the ferry for the journey to

Havelock Island.

Ross Island: Famous for its friendly flocks of

deer and lush green walking trails, this island

is a peaceful destination. It now stands as a

ruin of the bygone days with the old structures

almost in debris.

Customers who miss the visit to Ross Island

on this day due to closure will be taken to

Cellular Jail

Havelock Island: Havelock Island is famous

for its pristine beaches, coral reefs and for a

relaxing holiday. It is one of the few inhabitedislands of Andaman & Nicobar and is named

after Mr. Henry Havelock, a British General

who was based in India. Havelock Island was

once home to the indigenous tribes who spoke

Aka-Bale language. The tribal population of

Havelock Island declined greatly during the

era of colonisation of Andaman & Nicobar by

the British; the original natives of Havelock

Island are now extinct and the Island is now

occupied mostly by Bengali and Myanmar

immigrants.

On arrival, proceed for check in at your hotel.

DAY 3

HAVELOCK

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit

Elephant Beach followed by a session of

Snorkelling. One may enjoy the underwater

beauty through a glass bottom boat (if available

and operational) instead of snorkeling.

Snorkelling: Snorkelling is the practice of

swimming on or through a body of water while

equipped with a diving mask- a shaped tubecalled a snorkel and usually swim fins. In cooler

waters, a wetsuit may also be worn. This

equipment enables the snorkeler to admire the

underwater attractions for an extended period of

time with relatively less effort. Snorkeling is a

popular recreational activity, particularly at

tropical places and scuba diving locations. The

primary appeal of this sport is the opportunity to

observe underwater life in a natural setting

without the complicated equipment and training

required for scuba diving and without the

exhaled bubbles of scuba-diving equipment.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Post lunch,

visit one of the best beaches in Asia -

Radhanagar beach.

Radhanagar Beach: It is Asia's best beach and

rated amongst the world's top ten beaches.

Radhanagar beach in Havelock Island is one of

the well-known beaches of Andaman Nicobar

Islands. Being away from the main city gives the

beach its prime importance. It is visitors most-favourite place as they flock to the beach to enjoy

the clear waters. Dont miss the sunsets at the

beach as they are quite spectacular.

Spend a comfortable overnight stay at the Hotel.

DAY 4

HAVELOCK - NEIL ISLAND

- PORT BLAIR

BY: FERRY (2.5 Hr)

After buffet breakfast, check out from the hotel.

Transfer to jetty to board the ferry for Neil Island.

Disembark at Neil Island and visit Bharatpur Beach or

Laxmanpur Beach (depending on the tide conditions).

NEIL ISLAND: Much quieter than the HavelockIsland, Neil is a perfect Island for those seeking peace

and seclusion from the humdrums of tourist footfall.

This triangular Island is geared by many natural

beaches and attraction. Bharatpur beach is a

beautiful white sand beach. One can relax here, go for

a stroll on the sand or take a glass bottom boat to view

the corals. The Sea around the Jetty area is full of

corals with plenty of fishes swimming around.

Laxmanpur Beach:A secluded beach, Laxmanpur,

lies 2 km north of Neil jetty. The beach is a broad spur

of white shell sand with shallow water offering good

snorkelling. Sun basking & swimming are other

options. One can view spectacular sun sets from this

beach.

Bharatpur Beach: Bharatpur beach is a beautiful

white sand beach. One can relax here, go for a stroll

on the sand, take a swim or take a glass bottom boat

to view the corals. The Sea around the Jetty area is full

of corals with schools of fishes swimming around. The

vegetation along the beach is simply soothing.

Additionally, there are water sport activities like

Snorkelling/Jet Ski/ Glass Bottom Boat/ Speed Boat/

Boat Ride till Natural Rock Formation etc. available at

Bharatpur beach (on direct payment basis).

Post Beach excursion; proceed for lunch to Sea Shell.

Afterwards, embark on the ferry for Port Blair.

Spend a comfortable overnight stay at the Hotel.

Things You Should Know While Travelling

Always consult life guards before entering the sea. Swim in safe areas only.

Avail the services of authorised scuba dive centres only.

Learn more about reefs, other marine life and tropical forest. This will make your visit more enjoyable

and knowledgeable.

Help to keep the beaches and the environment clean.

Dispose of the garbage and plastics at proper places/dustbins.

Take care of the coral reef, not just for yourself, but also for all who follow.

Foreign nationals are requested to obtain the required permit before entering /soon after landing on the

islands.

Your concern for nature conservation is highly appreciated. Please inform local authorities/staff

positioned in protected areas, if you notice any undesirable activity.

Donts

Foreign nationals may not enter the islands without permit.

Do not enter the National Parks without permission.

Do not enter into restricted/tribal areas.

Do not collect, destroy or remove any living or dead animal/plant.

Do not collect dead coral or touch/break live coral. Please do not stand on the coral reef while

snorkelling/scuba diving.

Do not take video or film without permit, wherever such permits are required.

Do not take video, film or photographs inside the Tribal Reserve areas or of the indigenous tribes. Do not

carry sea fans and seashells unless specific permits are obtained from the Fisheries Department.

Do not throw garbage and plastics in public places, beaches and into the sea.

Do not swim after consuming liquor.

Do not swim in unsafe waters.

Do not light fire in protected areas as it not only destroys forests but also damages wildlife habitat. Person who commits breach of any of the conditions of the Wildlife protections shall be punished by law.
