EXECUTIVE MBA | MBA FOR WORKING PROFESSIONALS
There will be a difference.
It will show in how you carry yourself
and conduct business. How others lean forward,
hanging on your every word.
It will be a major shift.
The UM MBA will make it happen.
READY TO LEAD

READY TO LEAD
EXECUTIVE MBA | MBA FOR WORKING PROFESSIONALS 3
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Learning to lead evolves during the process
of earning your degree. You do it with the
skills you acquire as you exchange ideas with
accomplished peers, field challenges from
top faculty, interact with renowned business
leaders and tackle a rigorous curriculum.
Sharpening your ability to lead takes more
than gaining an understanding of theory.
It takes real-life experience in a stimulating,
diverse and intellectual environment. As part
of the UM MBA experience, you’ll work in
small learning teams that will provide you with
the chance to develop your leadership skills
and test your newly acquired insight.
EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP ABILITY. LEARNED AND EARNED.Leadership is what every organization demands, but the ability to lead isn’t
automatically granted with an MBA.
A history of excellence
UM’s MBA programs for executives and working professionals,
established more than 35 years ago, are among the nation’s longest
running and most experienced.
EXECUTIVE MBA | MBA FOR WORKING PROFESSIONALS 5
That’s one of the reasons why our admissions
criteria are decidedly selective. We invite
experienced professionals who are ready to
take their talents to a higher level. And by
working side-by-side with peers who are on
the same journey upward, that’s exactly
what they do.
Through team and classroom interaction,
you’ll learn to communicate effectively with
individuals from diverse cultural, academic
and professional backgrounds. You’ll learn
how to inspire action among your classmates
and business associates. This open exchange
of information brings theory to life, as you
collaborate to analyze problems and formulate
strategies. And you’ll build strong, lasting
relationships with friends from around
the globe.
The UM School of Business Administration
offers a range of MBA programs designed
specifically for executives and other working
professionals in a range of industries.
You’ll earn the same MBA degree as the one
offered through our Full-Time MBA program,
benefit from the same challenging curriculum,
and share the same world-class faculty.
The difference: you’ll do it all without
interrupting your career.
The UM Executive MBA and the MBA for
Working Professionals programs also enable
you to customize your MBA experience to
better meet your industry and career goals –
with a range of elective courses few other such
programs can match.
Now may be the most exciting time in our
80-year history. Under the leadership of Dean
Barbara Kahn, the School is attracting top
research talent, advancing an innovative,
cross-functional curriculum and enhancing
alumni outreach programs – and that’s
only the beginning.
The UM MBA experience will change you – for
life and for the better.
MORE THAN A DEGREE. A CAREER- AND LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE.The UM MBA experience is shaped by you and the people you share it with –
the professors, the administration, and most of all, your classmates.

The University of Miami is a major research university set in a diverse, international community. The University
is an independent, private, nonsectarian, nonprofit institution of higher learning.
The University of Miami traces its beginnings to 1925 and the origins of the City of Coral Gables. When the city’s
founder, George E. Merrick, helped establish the University, he envisioned an institution of higher learning that
would embrace the best of the Americas. A history of strong institutional leadership has enabled that vision to
triumph. UM has established an international presence in business, medicine, engineering, law, marine sciences,
international studies, communications, and other disciplines.
The University enjoys a well-earned reputation for academic excellence, both for the quality of its students and its
world-renowned faculty. Through numerous innovative programs, the University meets the academic challenges
of a diverse student population representing all 50 states and nearly 150 nations around the globe.
There are more than 15,670 degree-seeking students in approximately 120 undergraduate, 108 Master, 49
Doctoral, and two professional areas of study. There are currently 2,226 full-time faculty members whose ranks
include Guggenheim Fellows, Fulbright Scholars and National Science Foundation recipients. Of this distinguished
faculty, 97 percent hold doctorates or terminal degrees in their fields.
Established in 1929, the School of Business
offered its first MBA degree in 1948. The
School has experienced tremendous growth
since then and, under the leadership of Dean
Barbara Kahn, who joined UM from Wharton
in 2007, the School is pursuing a vision to
achieve global preeminence. This vision is
supported by a strategy built on research
excellence, innovative cross-disciplinary
academic programs and outreach to the global
business community.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI
First-Class Facilities
The School of Business Administration is
housed in a $24 million award-winning facility.
This modern complex surrounds a tropical
